This is why you'll find KPMG the perfect place for you to build your expertise, progress your career and make your mark.
Our tax professionals have an impact on some of the most pressing global challenges of the day, such as climate change, incentives and transparency. We offer real scale and size in terms of the range of tax solutions we offer clients. Our services span: International Tax, Deal Advisory Tax and Transfer Pricing; Business Taxes, covering advisory, compliance, claims and incentives and transformation; People Taxes, advising on all aspects of employee reward, tax issues arising as a result of having a global workforce as well as advising high-net-worth individuals and entrepreneurial families; and Indirect Taxes.
Within our Tax and Legal practice, the Treasury Tax team is a growing specialist group. We work closely with Corporate Tax client service teams to provide technical support on deals, financing transactions, international structuring and other complex advisory matters. Our advice is practical, commercially focused and technically robust, helping clients navigate an increasingly important area of tax.
About the role:
As a Director in the Treasury Tax team, you will lead complex, high-value work and help shape the continued growth of our specialist capability. You will bring strong technical credibility in the United Kingdom's loan relationships and derivative contracts rules, alongside sound legal, accounting and commercial understanding of treasury activity. The role offers flexibility around UK office location and working pattern, with regular visits to London or Leeds preferable and occasional travel to client or other KPMG offices.
This opportunity will suit an experienced Senior Manager or Director who is ready to take a visible leadership role, combine technical judgement with commercial focus, and invest in developing others.
What you'll be doing:
Shape and deliver technically excellent, commercially grounded advice across a broad range of treasury tax matters.
Advise on the United Kingdom's loan relationships and derivative contracts regimes, including the Disregard Regulations, Corporate Interest Restriction, anti-hybrids, distributions and withholding tax.
Provide specialist input on mergers and acquisitions, debt restructuring and refinancing, audit engagements, tax authority enquiries, compliance and other complex advisory work.
Apply tax, legal, accounting and commercial knowledge to complex financing arrangements, helping clients and KPMG teams reach practical and robust solutions.
Build trusted senior relationships with clients, Corporate Tax teams and specialists across the United Kingdom.
Identify client needs, shape propositions and support business development activity that grows the Treasury Tax offering and its profile across the wider Tax business.
Lead complex workstreams, manage competing priorities and maintain high standards of quality and commercial relevance.
Coach and mentor colleagues, deliver training and share technical insight across the practice.
Promote collaboration, technical excellence, commercial focus and KPMG's values across the team and wider Tax business.
Skills, knowledge and experience you'll need:
Substantial corporate tax experience, with a strong track record in treasury tax matters.
Deep technical expertise in the UK's loan relationships and derivative contracts regimes, including the Disregard Regulations, and related areas such as Corporate Interest Restriction, anti-hybrids, distributions and withholding tax.
Strong knowledge of the legal, accounting and commercial aspects of treasury activity, with the ability to apply it to complex financing arrangements, transactions and tax advice.
Excellent technical judgement and the confidence to analyse complex legislation, case law and guidance, evaluate risk and provide clear, practical and authoritative advice.
A strong market and client focus, with evidence of identifying opportunities, developing propositions and building trusted relationships with clients, internal stakeholders and specialist teams.
Proven leadership and project delivery capability, including leading complex workstreams, balancing priorities and delivering high-quality advice in a commercial environment.
A collaborative leadership style and a genuine commitment to coaching, training and developing others.
Qualifications required:
