Job description
About the team
Our Advisory capability brings our Consulting and Deal Advisory businesses together as one team, combining our expertise and talent. We solve business challenges, helping our clients to realise their growth ambitions, from strategy to transaction and through to transformation.
The Major Projects Advisory (MPA) team is part of KPMG's Deal Advisory practice. We help clients make critical business and investment decisions and create value through the successful delivery and transformation of major projects and programmes.
Programme Advisory and Capital Excellence (PACE) is part of MPA. We are a multidisciplinary team of cross-sector experts in complex project and programme delivery. We transform our clients' delivery capability and partner with them to deliver faster, more cost-effectively, more sustainably and to a higher standard.
As a recognised market leader, we partner with clients across the private and public sectors, including energy, defence, water, transport, oil and gas, retail, financial services, health and government.
You will gain hands-on exposure to some of the UK's largest and most exciting programmes at an important stage in PACE's growth. You will work with senior stakeholders who shape capital delivery strategy, supported by a friendly and collaborative team of industry experts and subject matter specialists from across the infrastructure landscape.
About the role:
You will support and manage client-facing work across specialist areas of major project and programme delivery. The role combines rigorous delivery, human-centred process and tool design, engagement management, internal compliance and business development. You will produce high-quality outputs, help mobilise major projects and programmes, and contribute to trusted client relationships and new opportunities.
What you'll be doing:
Support and manage client-facing work within specialist areas, producing high-quality outputs with close attention to detail.
Design new processes and tools with a strong focus on people and end users.
Help design and mobilise major projects and programmes.
Support engagement managers with financial management, including keeping clients informed about costs and time incurred, raising invoices and recovering fees.
Support internal processes and help ensure that engagements meet compliance requirements.
Identify potential opportunities for new assignments and contribute to bids and other business development activity.
Skills, knowledge and experience you'll need:
Relevant experience in a project delivery function on major infrastructure programmes, or in project-based consulting roles, with evidence of contributing to the development and delivery of major projects or programmes in industry, government or advisory environments.
Experience applying project, programme and portfolio management (P3M) methods, with a strong interest in the discipline and exposure to project, programme and portfolio controls.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, supported by excellent academic achievement and the ability to produce clear, accurate work.
Confident communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and network across the firm.
Experience using relevant collaboration, presentation, planning and controls applications, such as Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Oracle Primavera P6, Slack or Clarizen.
Relevant expertise in one or more of the following areas: infrastructure asset management; capital planning or capital portfolio management; process and value-stream efficiency and optimisation; or organisational readiness and effectiveness.
Experience of digital transformation and technology in infrastructure programmes, including the application of AI.
Qualifications
A relevant professional certification, such as Association for Project Management Chartered Project Professional (ChPP), Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or Project Professional Qualification (PPQ); Management of Portfolios (MoP); Managing Successful Programmes (MSP); or Management of Risk (MoR).
