Job description
About the team
Our Advisory capability brings our Consulting and Deal Advisory businesses together as one team, combining our expertise and talent. We solve business challenges, helping our clients to realise their growth ambitions, from strategy to transaction and through to transformation.
Our Procurement Transformation team helps clients reshape how procurement works and delivers value. We work across operating model transformation, digital transformation and strategic procurement, including rapid diagnostics, category-focused support, business cases, technology-enabled change and delivery support. Our clients span government, financial services, healthcare, energy and natural resources, consumer and retail, large corporate organisations and privately owned businesses.
About the role
As a Manager in Procurement Transformation, you will lead small to medium-sized projects or significant workstreams within larger transformation programmes. You will bring extensive management consulting experience and practical procurement knowledge in at least one of our core service areas, while remaining adaptable and keen to broaden your expertise across the others. You will be trusted to manage day-to-day delivery, support and develop colleagues, engage senior client stakeholders and contribute to the growth of our practice.
The role can be based in London, Manchester or Leeds. Client work is allocated nationally, so you will need to travel within the UK and may occasionally travel internationally. You should be comfortable spending an average of three days each week at a client site or KPMG office, with flexibility to increase this where a project requires it.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead small to medium-sized procurement transformation projects, or manage a defined workstream within a larger programme, from planning through delivery.
- Help clients design and implement procurement operating models covering people, process, governance and technology.
- Develop business cases and support technology-enabled procurement transformations, including the wider change needed for successful adoption.
- Deliver strategic procurement work such as rapid spend diagnostics, category initiatives and outsourced procurement support.
- Manage project teams day to day, setting clear priorities, maintaining quality and creating opportunities for colleagues to develop.
- Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders and translate complex issues into clear recommendations and practical actions.
- Contribute to proposals, business development and market activity by shaping compelling solutions and communicating the value of our work.
- Collaborate across Advisory and with technology alliance partners to bring integrated solutions to clients.
- Work across sectors and locations, adapting your approach to different client environments and project needs.
Skills, knowledge and experience you’ll need:
- Extensive management consulting experience, ideally gained in procurement or supply chain transformation, with the ability to operate effectively in client-facing environments.
- Demonstrable procurement expertise in operating model transformation, digital transformation or strategic procurement, with an interest in developing breadth across the other areas.
- Experience leading a project or substantial workstream, including managing team members and coordinating day-to-day delivery.
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders, structuring ambiguous problems and communicating recommendations clearly in writing and in person.
- Commercial awareness and experience contributing to proposals, business development or the growth of client relationships.
- Drive, energy and adaptability, with a collaborative approach and willingness to travel to client sites and KPMG offices as project needs require.
- A recognised procurement qualification, such as Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), is welcome but not essential.
