About the role

This role sits within Tax & Legal, in a Tax Technology & Innovation team that develops and maintains software solutions for UK and global tax products. The team uses a shared design system to support consistency, accessibility and quality across multiple applications. As Senior Product Designer, you will bring together user needs, business goals and technical considerations, guiding work from early discovery and prototyping through to implementation. You will collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Software Engineers and quality assurance professionals, using evidence and clear communication to create practical, user-centred outcomes.

Roles and responsibilities

• Lead the design of user-centred web and mobile experiences, translating requirements into clear interfaces, user flows, wireframes and prototypes.
• Plan and facilitate workshops, design sprints and stakeholder sessions to establish goals, scope and deliverables.
• Build alignment across product, business and technical stakeholders so that proposed designs are feasible, scalable and connected to business goals.
• Partner with development and quality assurance teams to clarify requirements, resolve design-to-code challenges and support accurate implementation.
• Own the ongoing development of the shared design system, improving consistency, accessibility and scalability across applications.
• Present design concepts, prototypes and recommendations clearly to leadership and project stakeholders, adapting the level of detail for the audience.
• Coordinate design work within backlog refinement and sprint planning, helping teams prioritise activity against project needs.
• Use research, design trends and appropriate tools, including artificial intelligence-enabled tools, to strengthen ideation, analysis, prototyping and delivery.

Experience and skills needed

• A portfolio demonstrating user-centred product design for web or mobile products, supported by clear examples of your contribution and design decisions.
• Proficiency in Figma or an equivalent design tool, including components, prototypes and detailed design artefacts for developer handover.
• Practical application of user experience principles, interaction design, visual design and user research methods such as interviews or usability testing.
• Experience collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders, with the ability to explain design choices and build shared understanding.
• Experience creating, maintaining or evolving design systems for consistent use across products or services.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, solve problems analytically and maintain accuracy while working in an iterative delivery environment.
