Job description

About the role

Group Corporate Services provides internal business services, advice and expertise to KPMG. The Credit Management department sits within Group Corporate Services Finance and provides credit control administration and support that enables the business to focus on its core objectives.

You will manage a designated area of the client debtor ledger, using appropriate collection methods to resolve difficult and slow-paying debts while maintaining professional client relationships. You will also support the wider Credit Control team, respond to complex process and administration queries, and help maintain strong controls and accurate audit trails.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Manage an allocated portfolio of client debtor accounts, using appropriate collection methods to resolve difficult and slow-paying debts.
  • Maintain accurate credit control records, diary actions, account notifications and audit trails, handling confidential client data in line with data protection requirements.
  • Monitor cash collection against targets, take action to minimise aged debt and assess monthly exposure to bad debt provision.
  • Coordinate with client and engagement teams before making contact where prior consent is required, ensuring suitable credit control action is taken.
  • Arrange bad debt write-offs and insolvency documentation where appropriate, submitting details for management authorisation.
  • Escalate difficult debt, litigation and legal-process matters to Credit Management leaders, engagement teams and Finance Managers with the required documentation.
  • Respond to debt reviews, troubleshooting requests and queries from internal and external clients, including rotating responsibility for the telephone helpline and email inbox.
  • Provide cover across the wider Credit Control team and support management reporting and analysis when required.

Experience and skills needed

  • Experience in a credit control or finance role within an operational or professional services environment.
  • Understanding of wider credit management processes, including litigation, insolvency, risk and credit checking, and effective collection methods.
  • Experience managing debt collection activity and maintaining accurate credit control records and audit trails.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple demanding stakeholders and communicate difficult debt issues clearly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate queries and identify appropriate action.
  • Resilience and sound judgement when managing complex or sensitive client debt matters.

Qualifications required

  • Chartered Institute of Credit Management qualification, or A levels including grade B or above in English and Maths.
