Job description
About the role
Tax & Legal brings together specialists who use tax and legal knowledge and technology to help businesses respond to evolving local and global requirements. Its tax services include international tax, deal advisory tax, transfer pricing, business taxes, people taxes and indirect taxes, giving you access to a broad multidisciplinary network.
KPMG’s UK Indirect Tax practice advises organisations on value added tax, customs duty and environmental taxes across a wide range of sectors. The national practice has approximately 200 professionals across the UK, and this role sits within the Large Corporates team, which supports FTSE 250 clients, sector priorities and international corridors.
As a Director focused on Energy and Natural Resources, you will help accelerate growth by developing senior client relationships, creating and converting opportunities, and bringing together the right expertise for complex client needs. Your focus will include deal-related opportunities, priority Energy and Natural Resources accounts, the Middle East Corridor and commodity trading opportunities across the UK–Switzerland Corridor.
Roles and responsibilities
Lead the growth strategy for Indirect Tax in the Energy and Natural Resources sector, turning market insight and client needs into a focused pipeline of opportunities.
Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders at priority clients and target organisations, strengthening KPMG’s position as a long-term adviser.
Originate and lead business development activity, proposals and pitches in the UK and internationally, converting opportunities into commercially sustainable work.
Develop deal-related Indirect Tax opportunities and expand priority client relationships across the Energy and Natural Resources sector.
Support growth through the Middle East Corridor and develop commodity trading opportunities across the UK–Switzerland Corridor.
Connect clients with relevant expertise across KPMG’s tax, legal and advisory practices to deliver clear, joined-up solutions.
Set a high standard for technical insight and client advice by linking complex Indirect Tax issues to each client’s commercial priorities.
Lead, coach and develop colleagues, creating an inclusive environment where people can contribute, learn and deliver high-quality work.
Experience and skills needed
Demonstrable Indirect Tax experience in the Energy and Natural Resources sector, with evidence of advising on complex value added tax, customs duty or environmental tax matters.
A strong record of building senior client relationships and influencing stakeholders with different commercial, technical and operational priorities.
Evidence of identifying opportunities and converting proposals, pitches or client discussions into commercial projects in a consulting or in-house environment.
Experience collaborating with tax specialists, lawyers, finance teams and international colleagues to deliver integrated client solutions; exposure to the Middle East Energy and Natural Resources market is desirable.
Strong analytical and review skills, with evidence of translating complex technical issues into clear, commercially relevant advice and high-quality deliverables.
Demonstrable leadership, communication and project management skills, including managing competing priorities and developing colleagues or project teams.
