Job description

About the team

Our Advisory capability brings our Consulting and Deal Advisory businesses together as one team, combining our expertise and talent. We solve business challenges, helping our clients to realise their growth ambitions, from strategy to transaction and through to transformation.

People Consulting is an integral and growing part of KPMG’s Advisory practice. We help organisations transform performance by changing how people are led, managed and developed, with a focus on the people agenda within complex transformation programmes and the transformation of the human resources (HR) function.

Our capabilities span behavioural change management, organisation development, HR transformation, talent management and workforce intelligence. Within People Consulting, the Infrastructure, Government and Healthcare (IGH) team works across Central Government and Justice; Transport and Infrastructure; Education, Skills and Productivity; Health and Human Services; and Local Government. Our purpose is to lead transformation for and with people, creating a positive impact for clients and citizens.

We are committed to creating a dynamic, challenging and engaging place to work. You’ll join a passionate and diverse community where team members are valued, respected and empowered to enjoy the work they do.

About the role:

As a Manager, you’ll lead and deliver client engagements that address key public sector challenges through people-centred transformation. You’ll bring experience of designing and delivering complex change and transformation programmes, potentially covering target operating model design, organisational redesign, financial recovery, service improvement, back-office transformation or digital transformation. You’ll combine delivery leadership with specialist advice, strong stakeholder relationships and contributions to business development.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead engagement teams and work closely with client teams to deliver agreed outcomes.
  • Manage the design and delivery of complex, people-centred change and transformation programmes.
  • Provide specialist advice to client leads and team members, adapting your approach to different client challenges.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior leaders and take ownership of executive-level stakeholder engagement.
  • Maintain delivery focus across scope, quality, risks and project priorities in fast-moving environments.
  • Work with account teams to identify and scope opportunities, develop compelling proposals and support successful pursuits.
  • Contribute to the development of People Consulting methods, tools and thought leadership.
  • Lead, support and develop colleagues, creating an inclusive environment where the team can perform at its best.

Skills, knowledge and experience you’ll need:

  • A strong track record of managing complex transformation programmes and leading engagement teams to deliver successful client outcomes.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in one or more relevant areas, such as target operating model design, organisational redesign, financial recovery, service improvement, back-office transformation or digital transformation.
  • Experience of working with public sector organisations in at least one IGH market area.
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including written communications and work with senior leaders.
  • The judgement and initiative to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous and fluid situations, supported by an understanding of project management tools and techniques.
  • Business development experience, including managing pursuits and writing proposals, together with a commitment to continuous learning in your discipline.
  • Current Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain clearance when you join us. Accreditation in a psychometric assessment tool or a recognised project management qualification, such as PRINCE2, would be desirable.
