October marks Black History Month across the UK, a time for us all to recognise and celebrate the contribution and achievements of those of Black heritage.

Our vision is to ensure KPMG is a place where all our people can thrive and reach their full potential, whatever their ethnicity, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation, and socio-economic background.

Black History Month is an opportunity for us all to reflect and raise awareness of Black culture, heritage, achievements, and contributions by celebrating ‘We ARE Black History’ – KPMG’s Black History Month theme for 2022. We ARE Black History focuses on the events and people who came before us, the milestones that altered the course of history including the key players, black and non-black, whose actions on all sides of the historical divides have led to where we find ourselves today. Throughout the month there will be events to provoke discussions answering the following questions ‘What accomplishments will we write into the tapestry of history for those who are coming behind us to follow? What legacy will they seek to emulate? What names will they reach for to inspire the next generation?’

For this year’s Black History Month, KPMG’s African and Caribbean Employee Network is hosting a series of events for all colleagues focused on the significant contribution of Black people in the UK.

  • We’ll be joined by Dr Miranda Brawn, who will be talking about her background, the building of her foundation and her thoughts on diversity, equity, and inclusion. For more information on The Miranda Brawn Diversity Leadership Foundation please visit tmbdlf.com.
  • There’s also Q&A session with Josiah Senu, Country Lead at Saltpay, who will be sharing his experience in entrepreneurship and the areas of inequality we don't see in the news every day, focusing on the disparities in funding for Black founders and start-ups.

On Wednesday 26th October 2022 at 12:30pm the Student Recruitment Team and members of our African Caribbean Network will be hosting our virtual We ARE Black History: KPMG Careers Event which is open to all. Aimed at people interested in our apprentice, undergraduate and graduate roles, this event will give you the opportunity to hear from black senior leaders at KPMG, who will share their personal insights, experiences and career journeys. You’ll also have the chance to submit your career questions to our panel of current graduates and apprentices. Our keynote speaker for this event is Shaun Wallace, a star on The Chase and winner of Mastermind, who uses his academic excellence to outwit contestants. Shaun is also a practising barrister and lecturer. Register today, to secure your place. Register here

We’ll also be running an external Career Development Workshop with Indeed, which is open to all. This workshop is designed to give you practical tools and reflective techniques to give your career the boost that it needs. Register for the Career Development Workshop to find out more.
