We are looking for experienced auditors to join the Audit practice within Asset Management. We currently have opportunities in the London Office.

Our Investment Management team works with a variety of market leading clients ranging from some of the largest traditional asset management groups in the UK to the top five hedge fund managers in Europe; and from some of the largest private sector pension schemes and real estate investors in the UKs. We have won a number of tenders in the last few years and expect to grow significantly in the next 3 to 5 years.

The Role:


As a Senior Manager, you’ll be involved in leading the delivery of a portfolio of our largest, highest profile clients using your sector experience to deliver exceptional client service. Your responsibilities will include:

- Supervising, mentoring, and coaching junior staff including promoting audit quality
- Managing partner involvement on audits, providing progress reports as required
- Acting as the initial point of contact throughout the year for your clients
- Budgeting and monitoring the financial performance of engagements, focusing on optimising profitability
- Regularly and proactively communicating with senior clients on relevant industry matters
- Acting as a department lead on your area of sector expertise
- Keeping up to date with KPMG's product and service offerings and identifying the sales opportunities that will help us grow our business
- Establishing and maintaining strong internal and external networks within the industry
- Communicating with clients and subject matter experts on technical matters relevant to Investment Management audits

The Person


Qualifications & Skills:

- Must possess professional qualification; ACA, ACCA or CPA (or international equivalent)
- Demonstrates gravitas and impact to earn trust and respect amongst senior leadership and the team
- Established strong leadership skills and proven ability to provide clear directions and constructive feedback
Knowledge & Experience:

- Significant financial statement audit experience
- Extensive external audit experience in the Asset Management sector
- Demonstrated practical knowledge of FRS 102, IFRS and technical matters relevant to your area of Investment Management expertise
- Experience in US GAAP preferable, though not essential
- Experience in CASS rules preferable, though not essential
- Experience in controls reporting engagements (e.g. AAF, ISAE 3402) preferable, though not essential
- Experience working on tenders preferable, though not essential
- Experience adding to the audit department outside of day to day delivery (e.g. developing and leading training)
- Proven ability to identify and pursue business opportunities whilst maintaining a solution mind-set
- Knowledge of developments within the financial sector and proven ability to proactively build strategic partnerships and influence senior leaders

The Team

Our Corporate Treasury Services team is focused on serving the world's leading Corporate Treasuries with their most complex business challenges, and is currently experiencing an exceptional rate of growth. The team offer deep treasury expertise in financial products and markets, risk management, systems, governance, valuation and accounting, and work closely with other high impact functions within KPMG such as Audit, Risk Consulting and Management Consulting to provide a wide range of treasury advisory and audit services, including:

- Undertaking reviews and implementations of Treasury strategies, policies, target operating models, cash management processes, and technology and systems
- Risk management assessments including foreign exchange, interest rate, credit and commodities
- Providing specialist support to external audit teams, including derivative valuations, hedge accounting, and financial instrument classifications
- Internal audits on treasury functions ranging from FTSE100 to Housing Associations and Charities, including benchmarking
- Technical support on accounting and regulatory change projects such as IFRS 9 Financial Instruments, new UK GAAP, EMIR and Basel III


Role and Responsibilities

- Assist with delivering Treasury advisory and audit projects ranging from strategy reviews, target operating models, and audit support, including providing input to larger, multi-disciplinary teams
- Assist senior management in providing clients with advice on technical treasury and accounting issues
- Assist in the preparation of presentations, thought leadership collateral and marketing material

Roles and Responsibilities

This is a pivotal role in the Firm’s Audit Risk Management team, closely supporting the Head of Audit Risk Operations in driving a step change in the efficiency and effectiveness of the core operational activities, whilst also supporting engagement teams with risk consultation queries across a range of topics and issues. Projects and change initiatives.

You will have significant input into and/ or lead a wide range of projects across Audit Risk Operations. Projects on the horizon include delivery of the Target Operating Model in Audit Risk Operations (including process rationalisation and improvement) and supporting the Firm’s expansion in the non-audit Assurance and Accounting Advice offering (“AAA”) from a risk support perspective.

Consultations & queries

You will be part of the Audit Risk Operations team, managing risk consultations and approvals for audit engagement team in line with the Firm’s policies and procedures. The role includes leading the Audit Risk Management input into contracting in the Audit Capability Group.

Projects and change initiatives

— Process rationalisation and improvement projects across core processes, such as:
o Engagement acceptance
o Consultations and approvals

o Implementing, monitoring and reporting on controls identified through the International Standard on Quality Management 1 (“ISQM1”) implementation process.

— Handle approvals for and consultations with teams in the Audit Capability, applying judgment and making decisions within a framework for approval and escalation. Approvals may be across a range of areas including engagement acceptance and continuance (both audit and non-audit), accreditation, training requirements, acceptance of non-standard contract terms among others. Consultations may include acceptability of and scope of work for non-audit engagements
— Agree service levels for core services provided by audit risk management and monitor and report performance against these
— Identifying opportunities for off-shoring within audit risk management processes and implementing these
— Continuously identify quality and service level improvements in Audit Risk management and oversee creation of implementation plans for these

Stakeholder Interaction & challenges:
You will report via the Audit Risk leadership team to the Chief Risk Officer for Audit. The role will include interactions with senior leadership in the Office of General Council (“OGC”), Audit and Risk, and engagement teams.

Impact, Risk, Accountability & Governance:

This is a role with impact across the Audit Capability Group and OGC, with accountability for significant projects within audit risk management. It may include preparation of reports and risk registers for senior leadership

Experience and Background

Essential

— Awareness of the different types of service delivered out of the Audit Capability Group and the key differences between financial statement audit and key non-audit services
— Experiencing delivering either financial statement audit or non-audit reporting engagements
— Decision making around engagement acceptance at manager level or above in an audit or professional services practice

The Team

Within the FS IT Audit team, our work involves providing consultancy, assurance, advice and attestation to clients on their IT systems and processes. Our focus is on IT risk management, IT controls testing, IT project assurance, and the technology and data aspects of regulation. This work is delivered through stand-alone assignments, large scale consulting projects and as part of external and internal audit engagements.

The Role

• Work with Partners and Directors in delivering technology risk services with an emphasis on Internal Audit services to the Insurance sector.
• Take responsibility for a large portfolio of audit clients (Internal audit) and deliver IT audit services to this portfolio to time, budget and quality.
• Taking responsibility for the overall output from client engagements including scoping, financial management, managing delivery risk, production, quality and review of deliverables.

• Strong project management skills including being able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously, to manage teams effectively, and to deliver projects on time and to budget.
