Our Tax, Pensions & Legal Services practice has designed a return to work programme to target qualified legal professionals who are looking for flexibility, allowing them to balance their commitments at home with a return to work. This includes people who may have taken time out from work and are now looking for opportunities to return to a rewarding career in a supportive working environment.



What is on offer?


Return to Legal will support individuals in roles that are structured around agile working arrangements, with a focus on bridging the skills gap and building confidence to return to the workplace environment. We have roles across several KPMG UK office locations, or, for the right person we can consider remote home based working.


The key to providing agile working for our team is making sure it works for both our clients and you. To that end we’ve developed a range of working patterns to help balance your commitments. As well as the traditional part time offering, we have people that spread their work across the year with annualised contracts and people who mix office and remote working patterns.


We will offer successful candidates support with getting up to speed with the latest industry developments, refreshing their technical skills and becoming integrated into our professional services environment. They will receive ongoing support in the form of a learning allowance and a working mentor who will be assigned to them from the day they accept their offer. The mentor will arrange regular check-in time to evaluate progress against goals and determine any additional training needs. A buddy will also be available to provide day to day guidance. After 12 months, returners will be invited to apply for a permanent role within KPMG.

Who we are looking for?


- UK qualified, corporate lawyers able to show experience in areas of law such as structuring and reorganisations, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, joint ventures, funds, debt listings and intra-group financing arrangements, corporate governance, commercial arrangements, share investments and/or the implementation of employee incentive arrangements.
- Candidates must have experience working in law in the last 10 years.
- Candidates who have a passion for returning to law working alongside our teams to deliver quality results for our clients.


We are looking for candidates across all grades. You will be assessed on an individual basis, looking at prior legal experience and qualification.

Role and Responsibilities

Our Pensions Consulting team provides strategic advice on and carries out detailed integrity assessments of pensions administration operations. The growth in demand for these services has increased dramatically in the last 3 years, with continuing demand from both Trustees and corporate clients.

As a manager in the team, you will take day-to-day responsible for the delivery of administration consulting projects to a broad selection of pension clients, including some of the largest pension schemes in the UK.

Typical projects include: data and benefit audit projects, administration operation reviews, administration outsourcing and provider selections, governance reviews and a wide range of other projects.

You will be responsible for drafting and reviewing reports, delivering at client meetings, overseeing the work of junior team members and being a point of contact for clients.

You will also take on performance manager responsibilities for some junior members of the team.

Experience and background

Successful candidates will have the following:

- Relevant experience working in the pensions industry, particularly a strong understanding of pensions administration operations and what constitutes “best practice”
- Self-confident person with an understanding of how to present, debate and listen to both clients and colleagues
- Proactive approach
- Professional qualifications eg. APMI
- Experience of performance management

The Role

KPMG Pensions is a leading edge strategic pensions’ advisory, actuarial, administration and investment practice. We deliver advice to employers and trustees and their senior people on all aspects of their pension arrangements.

We are a national practice that consists of a large team in Birmingham, as well as teams in Reading and Manchester. We currently have vacancies for Pensions Administrators, who will be part of a team based in Reading and work on all aspects of Administration, Actuarial Consultancy and Investment services.


Responsibilities

As an Administrator, you will assist in the delivery of administration services to a number of our pension clients. This will involve:

• Maintaining accurate records of members in the schemes
• Calculating benefits
• Providing information to scheme members
• Maintaining bank accounts in order to settle benefit payments
• Assisting other team colleagues.


Qualifications and Skills

• C or above grade or equivalent in GCSE Maths and English
• Experience of working on DB and DC pension schemes
• The ideal candidate is expected to have experience working as a Pensions Administrator or Consultant in a consultancy based environment or insurance firms
• Good communication and interpersonal skills is essential for the role
• Experience of using Microsoft Office, Word and Excel applications
• Good numerical skills
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Experience of working in a client facing role

As an Administrator you would be encouraged and supported to study for the Certificate in Pensions Calculations. You will have the opportunity to develop communication skills, team-working skills and technical skills.
