Role and Responsibilities:

We are looking for Audit Assistant Managers to join the audit practice in our Gatwick office. As an Assistant Manager you will get to work with a wide range of clients within a cross functional office. Our client base is from a wide range of business sectors, ranging in size from owner-managed businesses to multi-national organisations.

- Planning and project managing all aspects of audits.
- Leading teams on the ground, reporting directly to the manager on a day to day basis.
- Budgeting and monitoring the financial performance of projects, focusing on optimising profitability.
- Identifying, researching and helping to resolve complex audit issues.
- Supervising and coaching junior members of staff to help them realise their full potential.
- Building relationships with the client staff and acting as an ambassador for the firm.
- Keeping up to date with KPMG's product and service offerings and identifying the sales opportunities that will help us grow our business.

Skills, qualifications and experience required:

- Qualified ACA or equivalent qualification.

Summary of Role Purpose





We are looking for qualified accountants, currently workingat manager level, to join the audit practice in our Gatwick office.



KPMG in Gatwick provides audit services to audit engagementsin the surrounding areas of Surrey, Sussex and Kent, across a range of sectorsand has a diverse audit engagement base, ranging from smaller owner managed businessesand private equity backed organisations through to FTSE and AIM listed businesses.Example audit engagements include well-known beauty retailer, a globalengineering, environmental and strategic consultancy and a well-establishedproperty development company. Many of our audit engagements are subsidiaries ofoverseas companies giving our work a truly international perspective.



The audit department, led by 1 Partner and 4 Directors, is madeup of approximately 60 staff, working in conjunction with other services includingtax, restructuring, pensions and management consulting. There has beensignificant success with new audit engagement wins over the last three yearsand we are now looking to further grow the team. If you are a highly motivatedaudit manager with experience of leading audit teams on audit engagements on arange of both IFRS and UK GAAP, then we’d like to hear from you. US GAAP andSOX experience would be preferential but not essential.

Description of the role:




Manage and deliver audit engagements from planning through tocompletion. The role will require proficiency in IFRS and UK GAAP. You will haveyour own portfolio of audit engagements with responsibility for agreeing audittimetables, briefing the audit team, including other specialists, monitoringbudgets and supervising the KPMG audit process. Leadership & Management:







- Manage engagements, overseeing in-charge and audit assistantswork ensuring compliance with audit engagement, statutory and KPMG requirements,appreciating relevant internal and external market factors, ensuring theeffective and timely delivery of engagements.











- Oversee and direct the budgeting, planning, co-ordination andcontrol of engagements in accordance with audit engagement, statutory, KPMG andbusiness requirements to ensure effective service delivery and maximisedrecoverability.




- Direct, coach and mentor between 4 and 8 audit staff in a performancemanager role taking responsibility for overseeing their portfolio, business andpersonal issues and delivering feedback throughout the year.











Stakeholder Interaction& Challenges








- Nurture and seek worthwhile relationships with auditengagements, business departments and staff, for the sharing of information andto identify and progress current and future Audit requirements







- Prepare and negotiate fee proposals for our existing auditengagement base, and assist in forming propositions for new business.



- Contribute towards the creation, implementation and deliveryof the Audit Business Plan and offer support in relation to issues identifiedas a result of organisational or audit engagement focus change



- Assist the Partner/Director and Senior Manager (whereapplicable) in monitoring the effectiveness of Audit services delivered,providing feedback and reflection on the quality of service accordingly








- Prepare reports to senior management and Audit Committees



- There will be opportunity and encouragement for additionalresponsibilities outside this day to day role, such as working on tenders for potentialnew audit engagements and assisting with training courses for in-charges and auditassistants.

Experience




- Recent and significant experience as a Manager in anexternal audit capacity within a top 10 accountancy










- Significant audit experience for large, mixed sectorcorporate audit engagements





- Knowledge and experience of auditing and experience ofsystems/controls testing as well as substantive auditing











Expertise / Technicalrole requirements







- Time and exam Qualified Accountant - ACA, ACCA or countryequivalent




- Sound working knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS











- IT literacy with sound knowledge and experience ofExcel/Word


- Leadership skills and ability to act as a role model
