The Team

We are currently recruiting Tax Assistant Managers to join our successful National Private Client teams within in our Bristol, Birmingham, London, Leeds, Manchester and Reading offices.

As a national practice our Private Client department consists of 162 team members across the UK, led by 5 Partners and 17 Directors. We work with a variety of high net worth individuals – from stakeholders in privately owned and entrepreneurial businesses, executives of multi-national firms, landed estates and senior members of private equity firms; who may be tax resident and/or domiciled in a range of jurisdictions. We also specialise in providing advice to Trusts and Estates, and Partnerships.

If you are a highly motivated qualified tax adviser/ accountant (ATT, CTA or ACA/ACCA) with experience of working in personal tax, then we’d love to hear from you. We recognise that there are also highly motivated individuals who are qualified though experience and may not yet be exam qualified and we are open to considering such individuals also.

The Academy

As a successful candidate, you will join “The Academy” which is our new 4-week intensive program designed to offer an immersive and wide-ranging tax technical and practical learning experience for high achieving individuals who are interested in working in a highly advisory focused Private Client role. You will train alongside other successful recruits from across the country as well as our existing national Assistant Manager population which will provide you with the opportunity to start building your internal network at KPMG, whilst equipping you with the skills necessary to succeed within our Private Client team.

Following completion of the Academy training, you will be ready to join your chosen Private Client office/team as an Assistant Manager and put the skills you have learnt into practice as you begin to manage your own portfolio of clients, supported by existing team members.

The Role

The role entails working with high net worth individuals, entrepreneurial businesses and shareholder owned companies providing a mixture of advisory and compliance services on a wide range of personal tax matters.

More specifically, some of the responsibilities will include:-

- Ensuring the delivery of a high quality personal tax service to our clients;
- Managing a diverse portfolio of more complex clients and being able to provide personal tax advice on a wide range of assignments including inheritance tax, capital gains tax, and international tax matters; and identifying opportunities to advise your portfolio of clients in relation to these taxes;
- Providing original and creative thinking to solve tax problems, frequently leading to providing wholly bespoke tax advice and solutions on one-off assignments;
- Project managing tax advisory assignments to ensure deadlines, risk management and compliance procedures are all met;
- Managing work in progress and ensuring prompt billing and cash collection.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

- Qualified accountant or tax advisor with experience working in a personal tax focussed environment with exposure to a varied client base.
- Academically strong results in career to date coupled with a keen and insightful understanding of the issues facing private clients.
- An ability to work as part of a team as well as on their own initiative.
- A commitment to clients, colleagues and KPMG.
- High level of analytical skills and a commercial approach to resolving issues and providing advice.
- Strong interpersonal skills are required in addition to strong oral and written communication skills.

The Role

Responsibilities:


As a key member of the team, the successful candidate will be advising clients on the impact of changing requirements in provision accounting standards (IFRS9) and helping clients validate or build credit risk measurement models.

The individual will also be expected to complete technical analysis for workstreams within both IFRS9 and credit risk modelling engagements.

The individual will also be required to apply their skills to a broad range of credit risk related issues supporting both regional and national propositions.

The Person

Qualifications & Skills:

We’re recruiting for both Analyst and Advisor level positions, dependant on level of experience. For both levels you’ll be expected to have:

Experience in credit risk modelling techniques. Detailed working knowledge and experience of all aspects of model development and validation including the following:

• Data extraction and pre-processing
• Modular model development
• User acceptance testing
• Model performance assessments
• Production of model monitoring reports

Ability to communicate risk/finance requirements of modelling to the reciprocal function, i.e. risk to finance and finance to risk.
Flexibility and agility to contribute in a senior capacity to a broad range of credit risk engagements.
Excellent oral / written communication, planning, project management, networking and influencing skills
Flexibility to work across the UK (and internationally) where required
A mathematics/Statistics degree is beneficial.
Experience in IFRS9 and IRB is considered a material benefit.

Experience and Background:

Ability to understand and execute programming code including VBA, R, Python, SAS, MatLab, C++, SQL etc

The Team


The Technology in M&A team at KPMG is a growing and dynamic team.

We deal with all aspects of the technology function, from strategy to reviewing technology spend.

We work with both acquirers and vendors on pre- and post-deal technology issues. Our three key client proposition areas are:

1) Due diligence: Highlighting key risks and opportunities in the target’s technology environment in order to ensure that acquirers are aware of key issues that may impact valuation.

2) Integration: Planning pre and post deal to support the client to integrate the IT function and systems into the Buyer’s organisation whilst enhancing value.

3) Separation: Supporting Vendors to plan and deliver a credible, discrete standalone entity on Day 1 to the Buyer with value preserved and business continuity ensured from an IT perspective including support to define and implement transitional service agreements.

The Role


You will be responsible for leading client delivery and supporting practice development for the Technology in M&A team.
Your responsibilities will include:

Client delivery:

- Prepare, plan and deliver M&A technology programmes and technology due diligence
- Leading and supporting our clients through technology programmes arising from acquisitions, divestitures, carve outs and other transactions
- Delivering and/or reviewing high quality, transaction reports and other M&A documentation including IT due diligence and Transitional Service Agreements

The Role

Working in the KPMG London M&A Tax Group and focus specifically on providing tax advice in connection with UK and international transactions. We work alongside our clients and our colleagues in Transaction Services on transactions typically ranging in size from £10m upwards, providing tax structuring and tax due diligence services. The team works across all sectors ranging from financial services, infrastructure, consumer industrial markets and private equity.

This role will specialise in advising on M&A within the FS (Banking and Insurance) division.

The Responsibilities:

This role involves working on a range of projects and clients. The work includes:

- Providing tax structuring and tax due diligence advice on a wide range of transactions
- Co-ordinating the advice provided by other overseas KPMG teams and other tax skillsets
- Working closely with colleagues in Transaction Services
- Developing client relationships clients and the KPMG teams (TS, tax specialist and overseas teams)
- Assisting with carrying out detailed technical research
- Understanding the client's business and helping to identify areas for the provision of tax and other services (management incentives, VAT, TP)
- Being involved in business development activity
