The Role

KPMG's Integration Advisory Team works with both acquirers and vendors on pre- and post-deal Integration and Separation issues related to M&A or similar transactions.
The Finance in M&A team is a specialist capability which supports the growth of the Integration & Separation practice. The team is built using a mix of consultants and industry-trained finance professionals, and has the ambition to be the advisor of choice for M&A issues which impact the finance function.
You will be working with highly motivated and high calibre individuals to build the leading team in the industry and work regularly on 'front page headline' deals for a client base comprising a wide range of publicly listed corporates, private companies, private equity houses and public sector organisations.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an established and rapidly growing team with ambitious growth plans and help build a market leading Financial Management in M&A capability.

You will gain exposure to the high pressure, fast-paced world of transactions through delivering operational finance integration and separation projects. Your role on a project will include:

- Assisting CFOs and finance stakeholders on the buy- or sell-side during both pre- and post-deal phases to plan and execute changes in the finance organisation as required by the transaction
- Working across a variety of industry sectors and locations with clients of varying size and complexity
- Delivering high levels of client satisfaction throughout the engagement, covering all client interactions, deliverables and outputs
- Production of the initial draft updates, outputs and deliverables to required timescale and ahead of Partner / Director review – responsibility on major deals may be focussed on a discrete section or element of the report.
- Project management ownership of the finance/several workstream(s) on a major deal or overall responsibility for a medium scale engagement, covering deal strategy and synergy reviews; pre-deal integration and separation and Day One Planning; to post deal integration and separation planning and implementation
- Supporting client pitches, proposals and internal/ external marketing initiatives

Skills, qualifications and experience required

- Background in Management Consulting or an operational finance role in industry.
- Strong understanding of the component parts of a finance function and the typical organisational structure, processes, controls, systems and performance metrics/ benchmarks.
- Significant experience of leading finance change projects and business improvement initiatives in industry or a consulting environment.
- Exposure to the operational finance issues created by finance integrations, separations and carve outs.
- Professional qualification (ACA, CIMA, MBA or equivalent).
- An understanding of the market drivers, challenges and opportunities impacting our client’s strategies and priorities, enabling them to position solutions and ideas which take these into account.
- Operational finance experience could include activities such as planning, budgeting and forecasting, finance business partnering, management reporting, ERP systems implementation, cash management or design and operation of core end-to-end processes (Record to Report, Procure to Pay, Order to Cash etc.).

The Role

Part of our technology organisation, this is a delivery-focused role, we are seeking an experienced and highly motivated SIAM Delivery Lead with service delivery management experience in a multi-supplier environment. The SIAM Delivery Lead is a multifaceted leadership role in a multi-supplier ecosystem supporting the implementation and management of the SIAM organisation, processes, and policies.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of functional leads through the implementation, maintenance and delivery of the Multisource Integration (MSI) and ITSM Service Operations.

The role

— Advising on technology aspects of integration, separation (carve outs) and optimisation initiatives (e.g. synergy analysis) including the development of target operating models, understanding the current IT landscape, defining transitional service agreements, developing detailed plans, and supporting the implementation of such plans.
— Lead the technology workstream in integrations and separations within a larger team of Integration & Separation colleagues, working and supporting the client workstream leads to fulfil their workstream objectives
— Facilitation and leading key client workshops and meetings
— Identification or review of client synergies for technology within a larger team
Wider responsibilities
— Interacting with senior client stakeholders as well as internal stakeholders (KPMG Partners and Directors) and understand stakeholder management, external and internal
— Responsibility for ensuring engagement management protocols are followed and kept up to date including quality and risk management
— When you are not working on a project, you will provide support to senior colleagues in a number of different aspects such as preparation of proposal materials, development of propositions etc.
— You will also be aligned to an area of practice development to support the building out of new revenue streams or internal propositions

You will be responsible for managing small teams and workstreams on projects as well as developing junior team members skills and capabilities on internal initiatives and in client facing work. You will also take on performance management responsibilities for junior team members.
You will be the point of contact for key clients on projects and must be able to build strong relationships externally and internally. You will also be responsible for managing upwards for project leaders and will have to understand what requires escalation and when.
You will be responsible for managing risk on smaller projects and for taking the lead on engagement management.

The Person
— A good understanding of, or preferably a background in IT/technology, ideally in a M&A environment
— Technology specialism such as: IT strategy, applications, infrastructure, architecture, cyber security
— Programme management experience and track record of successful delivery of projects
— Fluency in a European language beneficial
— Comfort with ambiguity, fluid consulting situations and a highly pressured environment which characterise transactions
— Ability to work well under pressure, learn quickly and leverage skills in new situations
— Working within a team which includes both colleagues and client members of staff
— Leading and facilitation of client meetings and interviews
— Leading / working within a team which includes both colleagues and client members of staff
— Facilitation of and leading client workshops
