Roles and Responsibilities

The main duties will include, but are not limited to:



- UK Immigration Management e.g. securing of all relevant UK inbound entry and work permissions (including dealing with employment law issues and sponsor licensing issues),
- Global Immigration Management – co-ordinating of global immigration cases through effective communication and coordination with other advisers around the world.
- Private Client Immigration – providing bespoke immigration advice for High Net Worth Individuals and their families
- Immigration Audits – auditing the compliance of employer and educational institutions through onsite review and reporting


Experience and Background

The successful applicant will:



- Have at least 12 months corporate immigration experience gained within a law firm or dedicated immigration practice with SRA/OISC accreditation
- Have a deep understanding of Tier 2 and Tier 5 visa requirements and application processes
- Have excellent attention to detail and time management skills
- Have excellent skills in Windows Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Be a confident professional with strong interpersonal skills and a desire to learn
- Have experience of working with a variety of professionals (such as the immigration team, tax or employment advisers)

KPMG Law is recruiting an Assistant Manager to support the growth of the data protection team in KPMG Law. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team which works across KPMG providing our clients with data protection solutions.
KPMG Law – Data Protection

Our data protection team works with the different service lines within KPMG to provide clients with complete data protection solutions.

The role will include:

— Legal Advisory
— Data Transfer Agreements
— Drafting policies and procedures
— Supporting clients with the data protection elements of their transformation programmes, including group restructuring, outsourcing, large scale technology programmes


Experience:

The applicant will be a data protection/commercial lawyer with one seat of their training contract including data protection advice and preferably 1 year of data protection experience of advising on compliance with data protection laws including the rules around marketing.

The applicant will have experience in advising clients in the following areas:
— Data protection compliance issues
— GDPR/DPA compliance gap analysis
— Drafting information notices
— Assessment of joint controller status and drafting related data sharing agreements
— Drafting of compliant data protection policies and procedures
— Responding to data subject rights requests
— Preparing for and responding to data breach
— Data transfer/data sharing arrangements
— Liaising with the ICO on behalf of client who have received a complaint from a data subject
— FOIA

Expertise / Technical role requirements:

— The applicant must be finishing their training contract or a qualified lawyer of up to 2 years PQE

Role and responsibilities:

(i) Early legal and technical input into potential disputes with HMRC.

KPMG Law has a specialist corporate and commercial team that advises on a broad range of corporate, partnership and commercial law in conjunction with KPMG's tax and advisory teams.

The team’s broad remit is broken into three key areas:

(i) deals – including mergers and acquisitions, legal due diligence, transaction services and joint ventures;
(ii) structuring – including distributions, company law advice, restructures, capital reductions, demergers and management incentives;
(iii) specialist legal solutions – including general legal advisory solutions.

The team regularly advises on complex cross-border intra-group reorganisation transactions as well as those with a UK-only element.

We are now looking for an additional paralegal to support the Corporate Legal Services team in our Reading office. You will have previous paralegal experience in the area of corporate law.

The role is very varied with no two days the same. You will be required to manage your time well and be able to balance several pieces of work simultaneously, prioritising appropriately to ensure tight deadlines are met. The following is a non-exhaustive list of responsibilities and activities:

• running know your client (KYC) checks;
• drafting engagement letters;
• carrying out company searches and summarising key information in company search reports;
• drafting and managing information requests;
• drafting and amending project management plans (comprising a documents list, timetable and parties list);
• drafting Companies Act 2006 related documentation and other documentation (e.g. including board minutes, share transfer documents, shareholder resolutions etc.);
• drafting and filing of Companies Act 2006 forms, including hand delivering documents to Companies House where necessary;
• designing and delivering training sessions (either alone or with other team members) for the team on set subjects (this is something which each member of the team undertakes in respect of their specialist subject);

• assisting with business development activities;
• assisting with the preparation of proposals;
• carrying out legal and other research;

• assisting with the administration of the training programme; and
• assisting with projects that other team members are working on.
• The role involves working directly with all team members from Assistant Manager to Partner. There is great support in the team, all of whom help with learning and development of other team members through offering advice, providing development points and being open to answer any questions.

Education and qualifications:

The applicant will be an individual with legal experience having worked as part of a corporate and/or commercial legal team. The applicant may possibly have an LPC or similar qualification although this is not essential.

High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, being intellectually curious, and having good teamwork and personal skills are essential.
