The Role

We are looking for a Director to join our Private Client Tax team in London.

You will be expected to participate in bringing new offerings to the market, helping to develop new areas, generating new clients and leads for Private Client and the broader tax practise.

You will also be responsible for generating leads from both the internal and external markets, and mentoring bright and enthusiastic members of Private Client.

We are currently recruiting Tax Assistant Managers to join our successful Midlands Private Client team, based in Birmingham and Nottingham.
As a national practice our Private Client department consists of 162 team members across the UK, led by 5 Partners and 17 Directors. We work with a variety of high net worth individuals – from stakeholders in privately owned and entrepreneurial businesses, executives of multi-national firms, landed estates and senior members of private equity firms; who may be tax resident and/or domiciled in a range of jurisdictions. We also specialise in providing advice to Trusts and Estates, and Partnerships. If you are a highly motivated qualified tax adviser/ accountant (ATT, CTA or ACA/ACCA) with experience of working in personal tax, then we’d love to hear from you. The Role
The role entails working with high net worth individuals, entrepreneurial businesses and shareholder owned companies providing a mixture of advisory and compliance services on a wide range of personal tax matters.
More specifically, some of the responsibilities will include:

- Ensuring the delivery of a high quality personal tax service to our clients;
- Managing a diverse portfolio of more complex clients and being able to provide personal tax advice on a wide range of assignments including inheritance tax, capital gains tax, and international tax matters; and identifying opportunities to advise your portfolio of clients in relation to these taxes;

- Early Legal Input into Tax Advice – providing our clients with tax advice that has already been reviewed by lawyers

The Role

You will be a Senior Manager within our Tech Transformation Practice (aligned to WAM Consulting) and will be helping both grow our business and ensure our teams deliver high quality advice to clients. You should expect to be involved in a wide range of challenging client engagements across the WAM value chain for clients from across the ecosystem. As a Senior Manager you will be expected to lead on the delivery of key client work items such as leading programmes or being responsible for building KPMG IP.
It is also expected that you will lead and manage more junior members of the KPMG team as part of project delivery. You will be an example to more junior members of staff who will look to you for advice, guidance and development support.
As a Senior Manager it is likely that you will also be required to support Directors and Partners with business development activity such as helping with proposition development, proposals, RFP responses and pipeline management.
In addition to supporting the build out of the client proposition for technology, you will also be expected to support the development of the practice in a broader sense, such as through the development and nurturing of junior talent, training, internal communications and contribution to the positive culture and supportive working environment.

The Private Equity funds tax team provides a range of different tax services to fund vehicles and management entities above the portfolio company level. This includes tax compliance and tax reporting work for these entities, fund structuring and ad hoc advisory work for a range of mainly middle market private equity funds.

Our work requires a broad range of skills as we look after investment partnerships, investment companies, executives’ personal tax compliance and trading entities. Previous Private Equity or Alternative Investments experience is required at this level, whether this is in-house or in practice.

You will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge of the private equity industry, types of common fund structures, and the way different entities in these structures are taxed; to our client base.

At the senior manager level, you will be responsible for originating work by spotting ideas and opportunities and converting them into a proposition. You will build new relationships with clients, and develop existing relationships both inside and outside of the firm.

Technical excellence, communicating technical issues clearly to both clients and team members.

Ability to build and develop existing and potential client relationships, and invest time in longer term relationships even where fees are not forthcoming initially.
Experience of managing and developing people, and inputting into building a strong and motivated junior team.
