The Role
As an Associate Director within the ENR team you will (supported by Partners and Directors) work with senior clients to help them solve complex business issues. Associate Directors lead the design of engagements and have responsibility for day to day delivery. You will work with your team to shape the approach, develop and present your recommendations.
You will play a leading role in business development, proactively managing on-sell and cross-sell opportunities and supporting the identification, pursuit and conversion of new business development opportunities.
Additionally you will; proactively develop thought leadership; design and lead practice development initiatives; actively develops your own knowledge and expertise in chosen proposition(s) and sector of choice; build and maintain a strong external and internal network; motivate, mentor and develop project team members and appraisees

The person
You will have:
• Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire your teams and develop outstanding client relationships
• A mix of structured problem solving skills (including strong numerical capabilities combined with sound commercial acumen), ability to deliver insightful recommendations that can be practically executed, excellent written English and oral communication skills (other language skills would be a strong bonus)
• Substantial experience of delivering work into the sectors we serve (oil & gas; power and utilities and infrastructure sector serving UK) and a track record of delivering high impact projects
• Worked for a strategy house, big 4 firm, or central strategy / corporate development team, with experience of leading complex projects with multi-disciplinary teams
• Expertise in ENR clients in delivering across a number of service offerings including strategy, energy transition, Operating Strategy & Cost (including operating model design, cost efficiency, zero based budgeting), deal related experience
• An in depth understanding of the value drivers within the Energy and Natural Resources sector with the ability to talk credibly to C-level clients on the key issues, technological changes and strategic considerations facing the industry
• Experience of managing and supporting high value business development activities
• A first class or 2.1 degree from a leading institution, an MBA or equivalent is a definite plus but is not a minimum requirement

The Role

We are recruiting for a Senior Manager with Pricing / Data Analytics experience. The role is currently part of KPMG’s Strategy and Value creation team based in London office and would have following core responsibilities:

Responsibilities
• Led teams, led multi-disciplinary and complex projects under difficult circumstances and has delivered substantive, measurable operational improvements in complex businesses
• Able to operate across the full value chain of the sale - identify opportunity, shape it with client, develop proposal, commercials, scope etc and then close the deal
• Able to work alongside a client counterpart to scope, plan, mobilise and manage the progress of a project
• Capable of holding ultimate responsibility for the final output of a complex and multi-disciplinary project, including budgets, risk files and other relevant documentation

• Track record of working closely with large corporate clients and/or private equity to deliver high impact recommendations
• Detailed understanding of the pricing commercial knowledge across industries to need to make a real impact with our clients, and you can build the networks to make the role a success
• Considerable experience of leading and managing complex projects

KPMG’s Infrastructure Advisory Group in the UK consists of over 200 professionals and is widely recognised as one of the world’s leading independent financial and business advisers in infrastructure. The group has won many awards, including financial advisor of the year (Infrastructure Journal). The group has locations in London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds and Manchester, but is organised on a national basis, operating under a single national cost centre.


We provide in-depth advice on the strategic, financial and commercial issues driving investments in infrastructure across Transport, Power & Utilities, and Social Infrastructure in the UK and internationally. This advice ranges from the strategic thinking and advice to companies and investors to enable private capital to fund infrastructure to the detailed technical skills required at financial close. We also work closely with other functions within KPMG to advise clients on mergers and acquisitions, valuations, tax, accounting, and due diligence issues. Increasingly we are also working on mandates that require ‘infratech’ elements that help our clients take advantage of automation and other emerging technologies to drive value in their businesses.

The utilities sector is a key business area for the Infrastructure Group and encompasses work for the large clients in the sector including all of the leading UK energy and water companies as well as some of largest utilities in the EU and beyond. This area is expanding rapidly and we are looking for a high quality candidate to support our Power & Utilities business with a particular focus on giving strategic advice on the energy transition to our clients in the energy and water sectors premised on net zero.


Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of the role include:


Contributing to the delivery of specific engagements on a day to day basis

Have a sound knowledge of corporate strategy and investment decision making;


Understand how emerging net zero technologies can impact businesses and how they can be successfully implemented;


Have a good understanding of new and emerging value propositions in the utilities sector (such as electric vehicles, hydrogen, solar & storage or demand side response);


Have experience or understanding of energy policy and economic regulation


Bring excellent report writing, Excel and Powerpoint skills;


Be skilled in strategic and financial analysis;


Bring an inquisitive mind-set and be comfortable challenging the status quo;


Be comfortable and/or experienced in an external facing role;


Provide compelling and well-thought out solutions to strategic, financial or economic problems of moderate complexity;
