Job description
Manager – Contract Performance & Insight (CP&I)
Location: Canary Wharf, London (Hybrid working – approx. 2 days/week office-based)
Flexible and part-time options available
About the Team
Our Contract Performance & Insight (CP&I) team sits within KPMG’s Customer and Operations Advisory practice. We’re a dynamic mix of qualified accountants and commercially minded professionals who help clients unlock value from their third-party contracts.
Using a blend of audit techniques, technology, and strategic thinking, we analyse financial performance and contract compliance to identify cost recovery opportunities and drive operational improvements. Our work spans a wide range of agreement types—from royalties and software to supplier contracts—across both public and private sectors.
This role will focus primarily on supporting public sector clients, especially within the NHS and Local Government, to ensure supplier contracts deliver value beyond the procurement phase.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Manager (C-grade) who’s ready to take ownership of client engagements and bring a commercial lens to contract performance. This is ideal for someone from an external audit background who’s led engagements and is now seeking a broader, more strategic Advisory role.
You’ll manage multiple projects concurrently, lead diverse teams, and work closely with clients to deliver tangible outcomes—like cost savings and improved contract management. You’ll also collaborate with our automation colleagues to enhance delivery through technology.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role means:
- Delivering measurable impact for clients—such as identifying cost recovery opportunities, improving contract compliance, and driving operational efficiencies.
- Building trusted relationships with public sector clients by being a proactive, reliable point of contact who understands their challenges and delivers practical solutions.
- Leading with agility—managing multiple engagements effectively, adapting to changing priorities, and guiding teams through ambiguity with confidence.
- Driving innovation—using technology and data-driven approaches to enhance delivery and uncover new insights.
- Growing the practice—contributing to business development, mentoring junior colleagues, and helping shape the future of CP&I through thought leadership and continuous improvement.
- Championing inclusion and collaboration—creating a positive team culture where diverse perspectives are valued and everyone feels empowered to contribute.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead 2–4 concurrent engagements, typically with teams of 1–4 FTEs (UK and offshore), reporting to Senior Managers, Directors, or Partners.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
- Design and oversee testing plans to assess commercial risks and contract compliance.
- Build strong client relationships and act as the primary day-to-day contact.
- Present findings and updates to senior stakeholders, distilling complex data into actionable insights.
- Prepare clear, fact-based reports and presentations that demonstrate client value.
- Support team resourcing and contribute to performance management and mentoring.
- Engage in wider firm initiatives (e.g. ESG, Diversity & Inclusion, sector groups).
What We’re Looking For
Skills & Experience
- Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience designing audit procedures and leading client engagements.
- Ability to manage and develop team members across locations.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint for impactful reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Mindset & Attributes
- Commercially curious—able to think beyond the numbers to deliver client value.
- Flexible and proactive—comfortable adapting to changing priorities.
- Inclusive and collaborative—builds trust quickly with clients and colleagues.
- Tech-savvy—interested in using AI and automation to improve delivery.
- Self-motivated—driven to improve client outcomes and contribute to team growth.
Qualifications
- Professional qualification in Accounting, Audit, Finance or Business (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred but not essential.
