Job description

Corporate Tax Senior Manager

Manchester / Liverpool

As a Corporate Tax Team Senior Manager, you will be based in our vibrant Manchester office. Our Corporate Tax practice is experiencing significant expansion, creating unparalleled opportunities for Senior Managers to lead high-profile projects and shape the future of our service offerings. You'll be integrated into a collaborative, intellectually curious, and high-performing team that values knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and celebrates collective success. You will benefit from direct mentorship and strategic guidance from our strong and ambitious leadership team, committed to your professional development and career advancement.

We are seeking a talented Senior Manager to support our rapid growth. This role offers a clear pathway to Director, with bespoke development plans and leadership training. The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic working environment, supported by a talented team.

The role will suit either a Senior Manager wanting to drive their tax career forward or an ambitious Manager ready to take the next step into a leadership position.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients to become a trusted advisor, delivering strategic tax advice that directly contributes to their commercial success and long-term growth.
  • Leading and overseeing the team in delivering compliance work and strategic advice to a broad range of clients, helping them to achieve their commercial objectives and navigate complex tax challenges.
  • Managing the successful delivery of technically complex advice, including tax structuring, refinancing, legal structure optimisation, pre/post transaction reorganisations, BEPS Pillar 2 assessment and implementation, tax authority enquiries, and providing complex technical support to the wider corporate tax team (e.g., on hybrid mismatches). You will be at the forefront of managing complex tax advice, contributing to innovative solutions for clients navigating an evolving global tax landscape.
  • Being a role model for KPMG’s values, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.
  • Seeking out and pursuing opportunities with targets, actively participating with Directors and Partners in business development activities to expand our market presence.
  • Managing proposals for new work, including delivering compelling tender documents, presenting at client pitches, and identifying innovative solutions for client issues.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction and operational excellence of the Corporate Tax team, including effective resource planning and performance management.
  • Take ownership of developing the next generation of tax professionals, acting as a mentor and leader, fostering their technical skills and career growth.
  • Liaising with specialists in other departments and overseas offices to oversee their input into multidisciplinary tax advisory projects.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

  • ACA, CA, CTA, ACCA or equivalent qualified.
  • Proven and excellent corporate tax technical knowledge, with a dedication to continuously develop and apply expertise to provide insightful and commercially astute advice.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, coach, and lead staff, as well as effectively manage senior stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills (interpersonal, oral, and written), enabling effective client engagement, team leadership, and cross-functional project success.
  • Inquisitive mind with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Well-developed analytical skills and a strong commercial approach to resolving complex issues and providing pragmatic advice.
  • Proven ability to manage a wide range of projects and client relationships concurrently.
  • High level of drive and enthusiasm with a positive, proactive attitude.
  • Pro-active in identifying and progressing business opportunities for the long-term benefit of both KPMG and our clients.
  • I've aimed to make the language more active, highlight the benefits to the candidate, and emphasize KPMG's commitment to growth, development, and a supportive culture.
