KPMG UK, Data & AI Practice
Role Overview
KPMG UK is seeking a dynamic Senior Manager or Associate Director to join our Data & AI practice, with a focus on healthcare and the NHS. This is a client-facing leadership position for an individual with deep NHS experience, proven sales acumen, and a passion for driving impactful change through data, analytics, and AI. You will lead multiple complex projects and large workstreams, shape go-to-market offerings and play a pivotal role in growing our healthcare data and AI business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of large-scale, complex data and AI projects for NHS and healthcare clients, ensuring high-quality outcomes and client satisfaction
- Drive business development: identify opportunities, shape proposals, and lead client pitches to secure new engagements
- Build and maintain senior stakeholder relationships across NHS organisations and related health bodies
- Oversee multiple project teams, providing technical leadership, coaching, and development to colleagues
- Develop and take to market innovative service offerings in healthcare analytics, GenAI, and digital transformation
- Ensure compliance with NHS data governance, security, and ethical standards
- Stay at the forefront of modern data technologies (e.g., Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Palantir, Databricks) and AI methods, especially GenAI and healthcare-specific applications
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for executive and board-level audiences
- Contribute to knowledge management, methodology development, and continuous improvement of our healthcare analytics practice
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Strong experience in data, analytics, and/or AI, with significant time spent in or consulting for the NHS or UK health sector
- Proven track record leading and delivering complex data/AI projects and programmes in a healthcare context
- Strong technical grounding: hands-on experience designing, developing, and deploying data solutions using modern cloud and analytics platforms (Microsoft, Google, Palantir, Databricks, etc.)
- Demonstrable experience with GenAI and data-specific AI tools relevant to healthcare (e.g., LLMs for clinical documentation, predictive analytics, diagnostic support, population health applications)
- Numerate undergraduate degree (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering) or equivalent experience
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with a history of engaging senior NHS stakeholders and translating technical topics for non-technical audiences
- Evidence of business development success: leading bids, proposals, and sales in a consulting environment
- Deep understanding of NHS data governance, compliance, and information governance challenges
- Experience managing and developing high-performing teams, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation
Desirable
- Professional certifications in cloud/data platforms (e.g., Microsoft Certified, Google Cloud Professional, Databricks certification)
- Experience with NHS digital transformation initiatives, federated data platforms, or national data/AI programmes
- Familiarity with AI/ML regulatory, ethical, and implementation challenges in UK healthcare
- Experience in proposition development and taking new analytics/AI solutions to market
Personal Attributes
- Mission-driven and passionate about transforming healthcare through data and AI.
- Innovative, proactive, and resilient in the face of complex challenges.
- Strong leadership presence, able to inspire confidence in clients and colleagues.
- Committed to KPMG’s values of integrity, inclusion, and excellence
This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of healthcare data and AI in the NHS, working at the intersection of technology, clinical care, and public service. If you are a visionary leader with a proven NHS track record and a passion for leveraging data and AI to improve health outcomes, we want to hear from you.
