The Office of the General Counsel (“OGC”) is a team based in the UK and Canada. The team provides legal advice on strategic issues for and supports the execution of key business decisions made by, KDN. It also supports KDN in dealing with legal, regulatory and reputational issues and risks.
The OGC is expanding by seeking an experienced employment lawyer. The role will involve working under the ultimate supervision of the General Counsel and other senior experienced lawyers in the team, on a variety of matters requiring employment law expertise including advising internal business leaders and our HR team on all personnel related legal issues impacting on people who work for KDN, including employee relations, the classification of personnel, reorganizations and restructures, performance management, investigations, and leaves of absence. As a global organization, KDN has people working in various countries, so this role involves a significant level of complexity and the need to have a global mindset.
A limited amount of international travel may be required from time to time.

This is the job for you if you have
We are looking for a qualified lawyer, with significant experience advising on employment law matters in areas such as the appropriate structure for engaging personnel in a variety of different situations and jurisdictions, the restructuring or reorganization of teams with personnel in different jurisdictions, investigations and dispute resolution. This role will involve working closely with the KDN HR team to educate them and the business on matters relating to employment law and employee relations.
The successful candidate is likely to have or be able to demonstrate:
- Excellent legal technical skills
- Substantial experience working as part of a legal team, and advising on cross-border employment law issues. This experience may have been gained at a top law firm or in an equivalent in-house position
- An understanding of business drivers affecting, and legal, regulatory, and business risks faced by, large global organizations
- Awareness of own strengths and areas for development
- Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a supportive team while taking responsibility for their own work
- Ability to provide clear and pragmatic advice to, and deal confidently with, individuals at all levels
- Ability to deal with people from different cultures in an appropriate way
