KPMG UK’s Infrastructure, Government and Healthcare (IGH) business is widely recognised as a leading financial and commercial adviser across the public sector and on projects of national importance. This advice, amongst other things, ranges from major system design, economic case making, transaction support, design of efficient operational process and technology enablement.

Our purpose is to support the projects that improve the fabric of our nation, and other nations around the world trying to improve the economic functioning and social wellbeing of their society.

Our healthcare advisory business is a critical plank in that. Healthcare is undergoing rapid change. The needs of an ageing population are becoming more complex, treatments more administratively complex, and technology adoption critical to its effective implementation. Our team advises across that – we are amongst the market leaders in service transformation, capital project delivery and technology implementation.

Why join KPMG as Manager – Healthcare Advisory?

You’ll be joining our team that support the NHS as well as other healthcare and government organisations on driving value and in getting major transformation programmes approved and delivered – whether that be an investment in infrastructure, integration, partnerships, service change, or systems working. The broader team provides in-depth advice on the strategic, financial, regulatory and commercial issues driving investments in infrastructure across Healthcare, Education, Local Government and Social Housing as well as Transport and Power & Utilities. This ranges from providing strategic advice to financing investments, to working with the public sector to develop the business cases and delivery plans to get change approved within government and advising through negotiations and processes that support that change.

KPMG is part of a global network of firms that offers Advisory, Audit, Tax and Technology services. Through the talent of over 16,000 colleagues, we bring our creativity and insight to our clients’ most critical challenges. With offices across the UK, we work with everyone from enterprises to national government bodies and major multinationals, in virtually every industry imaginable. Our work is often complex, yet our vision is simple: to be the clear choice for our clients, for our people and for the communities we work in.

With our position as a leading advisor to the NHS and other healthcare and government bodies, we are frequently approached to support the most complex and high-profile programmes. Joining our team will expose you to work on a range of high-profile assignments helping providers, commissioners and regulators address their most challenging issues. You will benefit from working with and alongside specialists from a range of disciplines and experts from our Global Centre of Excellence.

The business is expanding rapidly and is looking for a high-quality candidate to support this growth. We are looking for Managers to join our teams in the the London, Birmingham or Manchester offices who will work as part of a national team and we are also interested in those looking to take opportunities as they arise to work overseas such as in the Middle East.

As a team, we work within a flat hierarchy and try to develop a supportive environment where everyone supports one another in achieving their goals. We have a focus on innovation and answers rather than just relying on a fixed methodology and this is supported by our diverse team, in terms of background and skillsets.

What will you be doing?

The role is within the Healthcare team. Our team provides a wide variety of strategy, operating model and analytical solutions to healthcare clients including system wide modelling for large healthcare redesign programmes, activity, capacity and finance models for complex mergers and large capital investments. This involves working with individual health providers, healthcare systems, national bodies and other organisations as required.

Projects regularly involve working within a wider a multidisciplinary team across KPMG with technical, business, data science, business management, finance or IT skills.

Successful candidates will work collaboratively with KPMG colleagues and clients to:

  • Contribute to successful delivery of client engagements
  • Produce high reports as well as analytical solutions. This includes support for workstreams within engagements, such as taking ownership for particular business case sections, financial analysis, or operating model components
  • Manage day to day client relationships and contact with relevant client leads
  • Contribute to input to be used in presentations, including business cases that comply with NHSE and broader government requirements
  • Drive their personal development and seek out opportunities to access the extensive training on offer at KPMG

  • Develop sector specific market intelligence
  • Introduce new ideas to the team
  • Ensure engagement administration, compliance and risk management standards are adhered to
  • Define analytical and/or modelling requirements that solve strategic problems
  • Any other duties commensurate with the role.
  • Alongside the project work there will be opportunities to develop the business, contribute to sales and take advantage of the extensive training and opportunities working at KPMG brings.

What do you need to do it?

We are looking for a Manager to join our team to lead a variety of projects including contributing to business cases, financial, economic and commercial analysis, model design, build and assurance. Critically we are a client facing team and the candidate will be comfortable working side by side with our clients. You will have practical experience of health transformation and health finances.

This role offers the candidate the opportunity to develop an extensive knowledge of business transformation and modelling across the health sector whilst also developing client-facing skills, project management skills and consulting skills. We believe that our work plays a crucial role in supporting the NHS to transform and deliver even better patient care. Therefore, knowledge of the NHS and plans for its future and a desire to support the development of tools that will help to respond to the sector’s needs is highly advantageous.

The role requires working to deadlines, prioritising workload, supporting project management and providing a high level of client service at all times. The level of responsibility you will be given will only be limited by your own aptitude and willingness to learn and to take on new challenges.
