SAP Project Systems(PS)/Enterprise Portfolio and Project Management(EPPM) Consultant  - Manager

Base Location: London, Manchester, Birmingham or Reading plus network of 20 offices nationally

The SAP Project Systems (PS)/Enterprise Portfolio and Project Management (EPPM) Implementation Consultant will be responsible for leading the functional design, configuration, and implementation of SAP PS and/or EPPM modules within S/4HANA environments. This role involves collaborating with business stakeholders to translate project management, portfolio management, and investment management requirements into effective SAP solutions, ensuring seamless integration with other modules and adherence to SAP best practices. The Manager will support project teams to manage client expectations and contribute to the successful delivery of robust project management solutions across various deployment models.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead functional design, configuration, and implementation of SAP PS and/or EPPM solutions, covering areas such as Project Structures (WBS, Networks, Activities), Cost Planning, Revenue Planning, Budgeting, Project Scheduling, Resource Management, Progress Tracking, Project Reporting, Investment Management, and Portfolio Management.
  • Conduct detailed requirements gathering workshops and fit-to-standard analysis with project management, finance, and operational stakeholders to align SAP solutions with business needs and S/4HANA capabilities.
  • Provide expert guidance on leveraging SAP S/4HANA innovations in Project Systems and EPPM, including embedded analytics, Fiori apps, and integration with other planning and financial solutions.
  • Design and optimize end-to-end project lifecycle processes within S/4HANA, ensuring seamless integration with other modules like FI/CO (Finance & Controlling), MM (Materials Management), SD (Sales & Distribution), HR (Human Resources), and PM (Plant Maintenance).
  • Manage project deliverables, timelines, and resources for SAP PS/EPPM implementation projects, ensuring successful and on-budget delivery.
  • Oversee data migration strategies and activities related to PS/EPPM master data (e.g., projects, WBS elements, networks) and transactional data.
  • Develop functional specifications for enhancements, integrations, and reports, working closely with technical teams.
  • Provide training and support to end-users and key stakeholders, ensuring successful adoption of new SAP PS/EPPM functionalities.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for clients on SAP PS/EPPM-related matters, managing expectations and fostering strong client relationships.

What will you need to do it?

Functional & Solution Skills:

  • Extensive hands-on expertise in SAP Project Systems (PS) configuration across core functionalities (Project Structures, Cost Planning, Budgeting, Scheduling, Resource Management, Progress Tracking, Project Reporting).
  • Proven experience with SAP Enterprise Portfolio and Project Management (EPPM) functionalities, including Portfolio and Project Management (PPM) and Project Financials Control (PFC), is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience with SAP Activate Methodology, including leading fit-to-standard workshops and identifying process improvements in project management.
  • Strong understanding of integration points between PS/EPPM and other SAP modules (FI/CO, MM, SD, HR, PM).
  • Familiarity with SAP Fiori apps for enhanced user experience in project management processes.
  • Knowledge of project costing, revenue recognition for projects, and settlement processes within SAP.
  • Understanding of different S/4HANA deployment options (on-premise, private cloud, public cloud) and their implications for PS/EPPM functionalities.

Experience:

  • Experience of SAP ERP, with time focused on SAP PS/EPPM, including significant experience with S/4HANA PS/EPPM.
  • Completed at least 2 full lifecycle SAP PS/EPPM implementations (design to go-live).
  • Proven track record in leading functional teams, managing project phases, and delivering complex SAP PS/EPPM solutions.
  • Experience in leading customer workshops, gathering business requirements, and translating them into SAP functional designs.
  • Ability to define functional business requirements and create detailed functional specifications for development.
  • Experience in managing client expectations and fostering strong client relationships.
  • Prior experience in industries with significant project-based operations (e.g., Engineering, Construction & Operations, Professional Services, Public Sector) is highly desirable.
