Why a Consulting Apprenticeship?

In an ever-changing, increasingly complex world, we work shoulder-to-shoulder with clients to help them overcome the challenges they're facing today, as well as those they might face tomorrow. We do that by immersing ourselves in our clients' organisations and applying fresh thinking to deliver the best possible outcomes. At KPMG we work with a huge variety of clients, from the largest organisations in both the private and public sector, right through to smaller private companies.

Apprentices on our Consulting programme can work across diverse industries and sectors, offering advice on how companies can grow with confidence, avoid unnecessary risk or deal with the unexpected. Our focus is on adding value, right from day one, across a breadth of areas such as Forensic, Risk & Regulatory, Governance Risk & Compliance Services, Corporates Services Transformation, People Consulting, Customer and Operations.

Our Consulting practice is built on collaboration where we bring together broad specialisms and deep expertise to give our clients 'Connected Consulting'. The pace of change in technology underpins all of this. It is disrupting and transforming organisations like never before, so we’re always thinking about how we can apply the most innovative, tech-enabled and data-led solutions to give our clients real value and the competitive edge.

Our Consulting Apprenticeship has been specifically designed to equip you with the skills you need to hit the ground running, after two years, on one of our established Graduate pathways.

Years 1 – 2: Rotations across our Consulting business whilst being equipped with a tailored programme of ‘Core Consulting’ training to support your development and working towards a Level 4 Junior Management Consulting Apprenticeship.

Years 3 – 5: Specialisation in one of our Consulting teams, following an established Graduate pathway, including the option to complete a Level 7 professional qualification relevant to your team (e.g. ACA, CIMA, CIPD or ChMC).

Our firm’s hybrid working model focuses on the importance of collaborating and learning in offices and at client sites. We trust our people to be where our clients need them to be, with our client-facing colleagues working together in person as often as needed. You’ll be empowered by the technology that supports us to work flexibly, building friendships and shared experiences, innovating and learning together.

Bring your unique perspective to our diverse community, and be empowered to grow, thrive and do work that matters.

*Please note that the availability of business placements varies from office to office, depending on the roles available in each location and the availability of work across the teams.

If you are a few grades or points short, we would still encourage you to apply, as your application will be reviewed together with your performance in our assessments. You‘ll also have the opportunity to provide additional information for us to assess your application and potential in the context of your socio-economic background and/or any extenuating circumstances, which may have a positive uplift on your academic achievements through contextual recruitment. Training and development

The training and development of our people is critical to the future success of our business. We want all of our Apprentices to embrace a growth mindset of learning every day, which is why we have created a rich curriculum and learning community to help trainees build their skills and fulfil their potential. This ranges from an immersive 5-day induction experience, formal training courses, leadership knowledge bites, learning journals, online courses and networking events – all aligned to our life-long learning strategy and part of our overall student package.

In addition, as part of your Consulting Apprenticeship you will complete the Level 4 Junior Management Consultant Apprenticeship for the first 2 years of your Student programme, with the final 3 years of your programme aligning to the professional qualification of the chosen business area, e.g. ACA, CIPD or another relevant professional qualification. You will study towards the Level 7 and/or equivalent professional qualification of this chosen business area.

All elements of our Consulting Apprenticeship Programme use innovative technology and are delivered via a blend of Online Classroom Live and Recorded courses plus in-centre classroom courses. This blended approach enables you to study and learn the content at a pace suited to your learning style but ensures all are at the right technical level at every stage of the qualification and apprenticeship. This creates a five year training agreement so that you are able to build up your technical knowledge and can continuously apply what you are learning to your workplace experience through your apprenticeship skills and behaviours and off-the-job training. You will have both have wrap around support which consists of dedicated professional coaches, online portal content and live and recorded additional study sessions, which means there is a form of support for your every need.
