This role is a core part of delivering our Trust and Growth strategy for Consulting. The Consulting QRM team forms part of our first line of defence, helping to ensure our risk and quality processes are effectively implemented. We support our client facing colleagues to ensure that projects we undertake do not put the firm at risk or undermine our reputation.

Responsibilities

Understanding and assessing risk and policy implications of projects

- Review of Engagement Risk Assessments (ERAs) submitted
- Approval of Medium risk ERAs once accredited
Provide a face for QRM and communication with business unit

- Provide QRM support, advice, oversight and feedback to the business on risk management process/governance
- Assisting teams in interpreting and applying QRM policy to engagements
- Responding to risk queries sent to mailboxes
- Taking training materials and adapting for business unit as required
Act as a Supporting Engagement Leader to assist provisionally accredited Engagement Leaders


- Meeting new provisional ELs
- Touchpoint to coach new ELs through the set-up process and other key milestones
- Pre-review of risk and other core documentation for compliance with QRM policy
Review and approval of TPRAs (corporate subcontractors) as required

Leadership & Management:

The role requires taking on a significant amount of responsibility for the operation of risk processes in the business areas covered. You would be working in a small team managing the risk processes in your business area.

Stakeholder Interaction & challenges:

The role involves dealing with, and challenging, a wide variety of stakeholders, primarily client facing partners and their teams and assisting them to navigate KPMG’s risk processes.


You would also be expected to develop relationships with a variety of internal specialists such as Ethics & Independence, Information Assurance, IT Security and OGC.

The role involves a high level of responsibility for guiding the business and the operation of KPMG’s risk controls.

The role will work closely with ARM professionals in the Audit risk team and in other capability and performance groups. ARM is expanding to meet the increasing needs of the Audit business and the fast changing regulatory environment
. The ARM team also works closely with the Chief Auditor and Head of Audit Quality.



While there is flexibility over the location of the role the successful candidate will be required to frequently travel to locations across the UK to ensure relationships are built with audit partners, directors and team across the country.



Roles and Responsibilities

The increasingly complex environment in which KPMG and Audit operates requires the ARM team to have senior individuals with appropriate expertise and authority: who are able to apply this to solving problems and creating innovative solutions; who can develop new guidance and ways of working to make things easier for our Audit practitioners; and who can provide valued commercial and pragmatic advice to practitioners.




This is a new role and will be focused on developing National Markets/Private Capital risk management and risk reporting for Audit and the role will evolve as the management information, systems and processes develop.

The role will initially involve taking a lead role in the following:

Risk MI and Risk Register


-


Developing and managing the local risk register proactively, ensuring it is kept up to date

-


Contributing to the development, reporting and management of risk MI to the National Markets/ evolving Private Capital Leadership.

-


Challenging National Markets Leadership on the appropriate actions required to manage/bring back identified risks within tolerance levels

·


Contributing to managing the risk framework


-


Responding to risk-related queries from National Markets auditors directly or via local face to face “risk surgeries”.

-


Advising engagement teams preparing for Risk Panels;

-


Advising engagement teams preparing proposals and reviewing the risk sections for compliance with Risk guidelines.

Trouble shooting emerging risk issues.

Advising on contracting and compliance queries, involving the Risk and Legal team where appropriate

Portfolio management

Advising leadership and resource managers on reallocation of portfolios in accordance with the Accreditations of RIs and teams, and their capacity;

Challenging the appointments of EQCRs, LSQCRs in consultation with PGL / CRO Audit.

Challenging the execution of the ‘Improve or Exit’ programme particularly in AIM/smaller listed entities.

Acting as delegate for the National Markets Business approvers for CRA and ERA purposes;

Providing risk updates and reports to the CRO Audit and ARM

Attending/providing reports to initially National Markets/Private Capital Leadership meetings and providing a regular “risk update”

Managing the Annual Risk Review process and acting as the Performance Group Leaders delegate in the performance of the review process as appropriate

You will be responsible for giving robust challenge to the audit approach, whilst providing ongoing guidance to the teams you work with. You will be expected to work with teams to enhance the quality of the audit including by helping the team understand and apply Asset Management industry best practise guidance, auditing requirements, and KPMG guidance.

You will work with colleagues within the KPMG Audit Centre of Excellence (ACE)in the development of training materials and guidance used by audit teams. You'll be expected to be a champion for audit quality within KPMG and contribute to the development and delivery of sustainable improvement actions.

2LD is central to KPMGs strategy of consistently delivering high quality audits, which is fundamental in protecting the firm and enhancing the brand.

You will be responsible for working with several audit teams in the Asset Management sector during their audits:
