KPMG Law – Real Estate Job Specification
Title: Real Estate – Legal Assistant/Paralgeal
KPMG Law has a vision to become one of the world's largest legal practices, integrated as part of a broader multi-capability professional services firm and #1 of the Big Four. In an ever more complex and fast-moving business environment, clients are demanding connected business solutions delivered at scale, harnessing the power of technology and leveraging deep commercial acumen. Developing market leading legal capabilities in key disciplines is core to achieving this vision and represents a unique and exciting opportunity for ambitious and talented legal professionals.
At a global level, KPMG Law already employs over 3,000 lawyers in 81 different countries across the world and is continuing to grow rapidly year on year.
A cornerstone of the firm’s strategy in law is the UK market. As the second largest legal market in the world, it is critical to our global aspirations. KPMG Law was first set up in 2014 (the first major multi-disciplinary ABS in the UK) and operates out of numerous hubs across the UK including London, Leeds, Manchester, Reading and Birmingham.
Why KPMG Law:
- Our vision is to bring a fresh approach, delivering better business outcomes and transforming legal services for good.
- Our aim is to invest to disrupt and create the UK’s leading integrated legal services business.
- Our approach allows us to supply rounded legal solutions inspired by a deep industry knowledge and business insights from our wider practice areas of Tax, Consulting and Deal Advisory. All supported by a global legal network
- Our differentiator is our multi-disciplinary approach that sets us apart and which, from day one, will give you the opportunity to experience a broad range of legal projects with exposure to the wider KPMG network, here and abroad
- Our clients are some of the world's biggest companies, on projects ranging from Deals, UK and International Business Reorganisations, Financial Services, Disputes; right through to Workforce compliance and transformation and Commercial Technology and Data, as well as Family Office and Private Client matters for our high net worth clients.
KPMG is very different to most law firms, it’s very entrepreneurial and a very exciting proposition for the right candidate. It offers new opportunities to differentiate and stand out from the market. We give our lawyers complete permission to think big, open their minds to new ways of working, always asking the question “is there a better way?” to deliver great outcomes for our clients.
The Opportunity
- KPMG Law wishes to recruit a legal assistant/paralegal into its’ real estate team to support its’ continued growth.
- The successful candidate will have experience working in the Real Estate practice of a fast-paced law firm acting for private equity, sovereign wealth funds and property companies.
- The primary focus of the hires will be meaningful legal assistant/paralegal experience in a real estate legal team.
- As this sector is known to lack diversity, KPMG is dedicated to considering diverse profiles for this role.
The Role of a Legal Assistant/Paralegal
The successful candidate will be:
- an organised and disclplined self-starter who is excited by the opportunity to support a real estate legal team operating in a multi-disciplinary environment;
- a driven and proactive team player who enjoys working with people from different backgrounds;
- a good technical understanding of the various administrative requirements/functions of a real estate legal practice and ideally some experience of undertaking some real estate asset management work (e.g. commercial leases and ancillary matters).
The role will involve:
- providing support to the real estate legal team in relation to HM Land Registry applications and processes, stamp duty land tax returns, deeds scheduling/verification and storage processing as well as (ideally but not essential) experience undertaking some real estate asset management work (e.g. commercial leases and ancillary matters);
- building relationships with other KPMG teams and KPMG clients to develop and provide multi-disciplinary solutions.
Why KPMG:
- When combined with KPMG’s market leading tax and deal advisory practices in this area, a multi-disciplinary offering combining corporate and real estate lawyers will be compelling to the right candidate.
- This is an opportunity to join one of our fastest growing legal practice areas at KPMG Law.
- Exposure to a global professional services firm and KPMG’s network which covers 81 jurisdictions.
- KPMG has the strongest footprint in the private enterprise space out of the Big 4. This is the most important differentiator, as this is where most of the opportunities lie to take advantage of multi-disciplinary offering especially the combination of legal and tech.
- KPMG is very different to most law firms, it’s very entrepreneurial and a very exciting proposition for the right candidate. There are many more ways to differentiate yourself at KPMG and different ways to be perceived as successful.
