About this Team

Global Communications consists of three specialism-based teams: Strategic Communications (which is comprised of three pillars: Global Reputation Campaigns and Programs, Media Relations & Issues Management and Social Media), Internal Communications, and Leadership Communications.

 

Role summary

The Head of Global Internal Communications is responsible for developing and executing internal communications strategies that foster engagement, business alignment and collaboration across the KPMG global network. This individual will focus on driving the strategic priorities of the firm, enhancing business partnerships and maintaining a strong network of communication channels.

The Head of Global Internal Communications sits on the Communications leadership team and works alongside the Head of Global Communications to support the successful delivery of leading-edge campaigns and programs that reinforce the firm’s strategic priorities.

This individual will be responsible for:

  • Developing Internal Communications strategy and annual IC plans at a Global level – that support our Collective Strategy and our objectives at KPMG.
  • Establish and drive internal communication programs, projects and campaigns that protect and enhance the firm’s reputation and support its overall Trust and Growth ambitions.
  • Work in partnership with Global Communication leadership and wider Global Corporate Affairs to define and execute internal communication plans for the Global Business and Functional areas.
  • Advise firm’s global senior leaders on best practices and proven internal communications strategy and tactics that enable successful programs and deliver exceptional results; serve as strategic advisor to ensure alignment and consistency of internal messaging across all channels.
  • Day-to-day liaison with KPMGI Leadership, Functional Leadership and third parties in support of the highest standard of outputs and outcomes.
  • Responsible for a high performing Internal communications team of 14 - 16 members across different timezones and member of the Global Communications leadership team
  • Design, maintain and evolve measurement for IC at a Global level
  • Work closely with Heads of Internal Communications across our member firm network to drive collaboration, alignment and consistency.
  • Drive the development, adoption and dissemination of best practices for internal communications, including new AI-enabled approaches to internal communications and recommend innovative ways to connect with internal stakeholders.

This is a challenging and exciting role that will involve day-to-day liaison with the global leadership of KPMG. All outputs and outcomes must be to the highest standard. The successful candidate will need to display exceptional communication and influencing skills, as well as a keen sense of business acumen and professional judgement, alongside strong evidence of managing a large, diverse, dispersed team.

 

Key Accountabilities

Internal communications strategy and engagement

  • Develop and implement a global internal communications strategy in support of KPMG’s Collective Strategy.
  • Drive internal communications programs and activity which build awarenss and understanding of KPMG’s investment areas, and our Trust and Growth ambition.
  • Lead communications efforts in support of culture and engagement of colleagues across our network.
  • Lead engagement with regions and countries on adoption, development and roll-out of campaigns and programs.
  • Lead modern measurement of IC campaigns, programs and ativity to ensure value for money and impact across audiences and channels

Business partnerning and strategic internal communications advice

  • Provide strategic communicications counsel to senior leaders at KPMG International to support business goals and initiatives.
  • Drive the development of innovative and technology enabled communications which drive understanding of business area priorities and engagement.
  • Lead on major transformation and change initiatives as required.

Team leadership; network wide engagement;

  • Deep understanding of KPMGI internal communications channels and effectively communicate to all levels of the global environment, leverage national and local networks as required.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders across the global network, including Internal Communications Working Group, made up of internal communications specialists from across our member firms.
  • Champion the use of new and innovative communication approaches, including AI enabled communications.
  • Lead and drive high performance across Global Internal Communications team.
  • Be an active member of the Global Communications Leadership Team, supporting other Communication teams and leading other skill-set related activity as required.
  • Support broader Global Corporate Affairs (GCA) commitments and deliverables, and build a network across the GCA team.

Measurement and resource management

  • Establish KPIs for campaigns and programs; measure and analyze success of global communication activities, and make data-driven improvements.
  • Efficiently allocate resources across team, driving agility and resilience in our model.
  • Oversee measurement and reporting on campaigns, budgetary spend, identifying effectiveness and efficiency gains.
  • Be accountable for all resource needs.

 

 

Experience / Knowledge / Qualification

 

Experience and knowledge

  • A senior internal communications professional with at least 15 years of experience (minimum 10 years at a senior level); focused on development and implementation of strategic internal communications strategies for leading organizations.
  • Experience in dealing with senior (partner / board level) executives within a matrixed organization.
  • Strong track record of managing high-profile internal communications strategies which drive understanding of strategy, commercial value and employee engagement.
  • Strong leadership, team and people management skills; role modelling ethical and collaborative working; ability to foster a creative and inclusive working environment.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to partner effectively with business leaders.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and ability to travel, as and when required.

Technical skills & qualifications

  • Exceptional project management and influencing and negotiations skills with the ability to get buy-in and support for projects from diverse and often widespread stakeholders, comfortable working with senior leaders.
  • Superior writing and communication skills with the ability to understand business priorities and translate them into compelling and actionable content.
  • Able to act professionally, calmly and persuasively when dealing with very senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive, multi-task and be flexible in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Strong technology understanding, including the development of AI-enabled communications. Advanced skills in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, SharePoint and Microsoft Teams
  • Understanding of dynamics of a Partnership organisation, and professional services sector

Description of level of Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree Communications or related field from an accredited university or college.
