Job description

Role -US/UK tax manager

As a US/UK tax manager, you will be required to manage all aspects of the tax compliance process and the wider client relationship management.  You will be required to lead and assist on advisory projects involving various tax and residency queries whilst developing and maintaining client relationships, under the support of a senior manager and/or director.

Aside from the technical role, you will be involved in the continuing building and development of a new US tax team within a Big 4 firm and expected to have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and constructively at a variety of levels with clients, their other professional advisors and your colleagues.

Why Join KPMG as a US/UK High Net Worth Tax Manager?

  • Join one of the fastest-growing US/UK Private Client Tax teams within a Big Four firm, supporting a rapidly expanding client base.
  • Gain significantly greater exposure to advisory work than is typically available in comparable firms, with a balanced mix of compliance and advisory projects.
  • Work closely with high-net-worth individuals, internationally mobile clients and entrepreneurial families on complex cross-border tax matters.
  • Be part of a growing, collaborative team where your contribution will have a visible impact on future success.
  • Develop your advisory skills earlier in your career through direct involvement in residency, domicile, cross-border planning and other strategic tax projects.
  • Work alongside experienced Senior Managers, Directors and Partners who are invested in your professional development.
  • Benefit from strong career progression opportunities within a market-leading global organisation.
  • Contribute to the continued development and growth of a relatively new and ambitious US tax practice.
  • Build long-term client relationships and become a trusted adviser to a diverse portfolio of clients.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Managing all aspects of the US/UK private client tax compliance process for a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals.
  • Reviewing and signing out US tax returns in line with agreed responsibilities and quality standards.
  • Leading and supporting advisory projects relating to US and UK tax, residency, domicile and cross-border planning matters.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients and their professional advisers, building and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Managing client deadlines and ensuring the delivery of an exceptional client service experience.
  • Identifying tax planning opportunities and collaborating with specialists across other tax disciplines where appropriate.
  • Leading billing processes and supporting effective cash collection activities.
  • Managing, coaching and developing junior team members.
  • Delegating work effectively while providing technical guidance and support.
  • Contributing to the growth, culture and development of the wider US/UK tax team.
  • Supporting business development initiatives and helping strengthen the team's market presence.

Essential

  • EA (Enrolled Agent) and ATT qualified.
  • Experience working within a US/UK Private Client Tax environment.
  • Strong experience reviewing and signing out US tax returns.
  • Experience managing client relationships and delivering a high standard of client service.
  • Experience managing, mentoring and developing junior staff.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of the challenges faced by high-net-worth individuals.
  • The ability to deliver practical, client-focused tax solutions.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a Big Four, BDO, Grant Thornton or specialist US/UK private client tax practice.
  • Exposure to wider tax disciplines such as Estate & Gift Tax, Inheritance Tax or Corporate Tax.
  • Previous involvement in advisory-led projects and complex cross-border engagements.
  • Experience supporting business development and client-growth initiatives.
