The Client Assessment Team forms a key part of this process and sits within Q&RM (part of KBS), which is led by the Chief Risk Officer. This team will also have a reporting line into the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO). KPMG’s Q&RM function is responsible for monitoring the firm’s and its individuals’ compliance with the firm’s professional risk management and quality control policies, procedures and guidance.
The Client Assessment Team has both onshore and offshore delivery components and undertakes thorough client risk assessments (CRA) to help KPMG to appropriately identify, document and assess financial, reputational, money laundering and regulatory risks associated with its clients. The CRA will include completion of AML KYC in line with the Money Laundering (Transfer of the Payer) Regulations 2017 and associated industry guidance.
What will you be doing?
The Client Assessment Team Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations and management of the team. The role will have line management responsibility and include working closely with the offshore element of the team. The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting with managing all aspects of the overall workflow.
The role will require experience in team management and operational excellence. A working knowledge of KPMG’s risk systems and processes and the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 is a distinct advantage.
The role will also include being the Product Owner of the KPMG Client Assessment Tool (KCAT). The technology has been built and deployed and the Product Owner role will be to work with the Technology team to oversee the implementation of fixes and enhancements as well as the longer-term technology development roadmap
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Client Assessment Team. Ensuring the quality of output and adherence to the service level agreements (SLAs).
- Ensure Client Risk Assessments and AML KYC are both carried out in accordance with the KPMG’s policies/guidance, within SLA’s and to the appropriate standard.
- Customer service and stakeholder management with the business, Capability Risk teams and extended teams.
- Oversight of all three sub-teams, onshore and offshore, fostering a one team mind-set, working closely with the offshore team management to ensure high quality, consistency, and adherence to SLAs.
- Identify and initiate process and quality improvements to ensure efficiency, productivity, quality and guarantee a high level of service.
- Conduct focus groups and seek feedback on the teams’ performance from client-facing Partners and staff, investigating complaints and carryout root cause analysis to ensure service improvements.
- Identify, diagnose, and remediate productivity issues, resolving areas of sub-optimal business performance.
- Product Owner for the KCAT technology used in the completion of AML KYC and preparation of the CRA. This involves understanding the needs of stakeholders and users in order to specify and prioritise requirements for the technology build, working closely with the software developers to ensure the implementation meets the requirements both in terms of business needs and timing / budget.
- Work closely with the Financial Crime Team Manager to embed quality framework and drive standardisation and process improvement.
- Producing and interpreting management information on the teams’ activities and supporting wider reporting requirements.
- Performance manage Team members, including conducting appraisals.
- Working with the Financial Crime Team Manager and Subject Matter Leads to provide guidance and training to the team, to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
- Monitoring of the team’s internal manual and processes.
- Ensuring continuous improvement of the team through masterclasses, team training and rotation whenever possible.
- Creating a stimulating environment for team members to make recommendations.
- Management of other projects related to Client Risk Assessments (CRA’s) as and when required.
- System of Quality Management (SoQM) controls owner
What will you need to do it?
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an operations management role, with experience of managing people.
- Working knowledge of AML KYC rules and regulations and knowledge of how they apply to a professional services firm.
- A motivated operations manager with a "can-do" and solutions focused attitude.
- Strong communication skills – able to question effectively, listen and apply judgement.
- Strong experience in a regulated environment and ability to exercise judgement to escalate issues as appropriate.
- Proven ability to build relationships and communicate with people at all levels.
- Client-focused approach with a passion for delivering excellence.
- Process excellence mind-set, including driving continuous improvement.
- Ability to process wide amounts of complex information quickly and understand the key and relevant issues.
- The confidence to challenge the status-quo and provide fresh ideas.
- Possess an eye for detail as well as an ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent organisational, literacy and numeracy skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information appropriately.
- Proactivity in identifying and driving change.
- Project management skills to enable identification of required tasks and deadlines and planning and prioritisation of these tasks in an appropriate manner.
- Ability to analyse data (management information) and preparation of related data in reports or using Microsoft Excel.
