Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager to join our rapidly expanding Accounting Advisory Services (AAS), Corporate Treasury team. Our team is focused on serving the world's leading Corporate Treasuries with their most complex business challenges and is currently experiencing an exceptional rate of growth. The team offer deep treasury expertise in financial products and markets, risk management, systems, governance, valuation and accounting. We work closely with other high impact functions within KPMG such as Audit, Risk Consulting and Management Consulting to provide a wide range of treasury advisory services.

 

As a Senior Manager, you will liaise directly with your clients responding to a range of technical queries, drawing on your own expertise and identifying when additional input is required from other colleagues and subject matter experts across the business. Your role will also include leading business development activities, contributing to the team’s growth and success. A member of the leadership team, you will be expected to promote and role model the department’s cultural values to your staff. You will lead teams and supervise the work of employees based in the UK and offshore locations. You will also have performance management responsibilities for a small number of staff.

 

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking reviews and implementations of Treasury strategies, policies, target operating models, cash management processes, and technology and systems.
  • Conducting risk management assessments including foreign exchange, interest rate, credit and commodities.
  • Providing specialist support to external audit teams, including derivative valuations, hedge accounting, and financial instrument classifications.
  • Conducting internal audits on treasury functions ranging from FTSE100 to Housing Associations and Charities, including benchmarking.
  • Providing technical support on accounting and regulatory change projects such as IFRS 9 Financial Instruments, new UK GAAP, EMIR and Basel III.
  • Assisting with delivering Treasury advisory projects ranging from strategy reviews, target operating models, and audit support, including providing input to larger, multi-disciplinary teams
  • Assisting senior management in providing clients with advice on technical treasury and accounting issues.
  • Assisting in the preparation of presentations, thought leadership collateral and marketing material.
  • Supporting the business development of KPMG’s IFRS 9 client proposition/offering and assisting in the responses to IFRS 9 client proposals, with a primary focus on Corporates, Listed and Regulatory.
  • Actively contributing to the AAS Treasury strategy, team management and other non-delivery aspects of the role.
  • Performance managing junior team members, ensuring that you are having rich development conversations that supports their growth and career progression.

 

Experience and Knowledge Requirements  

  • Experience working within an accounting advisory function of a professional services firm at Senior Manager level. (E)
  • Experience working in a Corporate Treasury function with good technical knowledge of financial instruments, risk management, treasury strategies, systems, governance and controls. (E)
  • Sound technical knowledge of IAS 39 and IFRS 9 standards, and their practical application. (E)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting for financial instruments under IFRS, and UK GAAP. (E)
  • Knowledge and experience of US GAAP. (D)
  • Experience of managing teams, coaching and mentoring junior staff. (E)
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering high quality, complex projects with stakeholder deliverables. (E) 
  • Business development experience with new and existing clients. (E)
