You’ll be joining our team that support the NHS and other public sector organisations in optimising value in the healthcare service through finding productivity and efficiency opportunities at an entity and system level.
You will sit in our Customer, Operations and Infrastructure team, with a focus on the healthcare sector and more broadly in government. This team provides in-depth advice on the strategic, financial, regulatory, operational, customer and commercial issues driving investments and operational decision making – through from initial strategic advice to financing, optimising cost structures and developing business cases and delivery plans to get change approved within government.
Given our position as a leading advisor to the NHS and other healthcare and government bodies, we are frequently approached to support the most complex and high-profile programmes. Joining our team will expose you to work on a range of high-profile assignments helping providers, commissioners and regulators address their most challenging issues. The business is expanding rapidly and is looking for a high-quality candidate to support this growth. We are looking for an Assistant Manager to join our teams in the London, Birmingham, Leeds or Manchester offices who will work as part of a national team and we are also interested in those looking to take opportunities as they arise to work overseas such as in the Middle East.
What will you be doing?
As an Assistant Manager in our growing healthcare practice, you will be central to the development the delivery of cost and value optimisation, integration, operating model development, transformation, and financial sustainability programmes.
Projects regularly involve working within a wider a multidisciplinary team across KPMG with technical, business, data science, business management, finance or IT skills. Successful candidates will therefore work collaboratively with KPMG colleagues and clients to:
· Rapidly diagnose the financial issues faced by the client through analysis and stakeholder engagement
· Provide insight based on detailed analysis and working with our network to identify international best practice
· Identify and develop initiatives to support rapid cost and value optimisation for the client - whether within an organisation, across a system, as part of an integration or transformation programme
· Support detailed planning and implementation of these initiatives
· Build and maintain strong client relationships
· Manage input from internal teams and external advisers
· Produce high quality documentation and presentations
· Drive their personal development and seek out opportunities to access the extensive training on offer at KPMG
· Support business development including network building as well as support with development of proposals, pitch presentations and thought leadership
· Develop sector specific market intelligence
· Introduce new ideas and unique viewpoints to the team
· Ensure engagement administration, compliance and risk management standards are adhered to
· Support the performance management, coaching and mentoring of junior team members
Alongside the project work there will be opportunities to develop the business, contribute to sales and take advantage of the extensive training and opportunities working at KPMG brings.
There is broad opportunity across the public sector for productivity and efficiency focussed advice and there will be opportunities to work across sectors, although the primary focus of this role is on the healthcare sector.
What will you need to do it?
You will be a talented and ambitious individual with previous experience of operating model transformation, or cost, efficiency and value optimisation work in the NHS or private healthcare.
You will be expected to demonstrate many of the following characteristics, although as a training organisation we are interested in hearing from a broad pool of applicants and helping them develop in the next stage of their career.
Skills we’d love to see/Amazing Extras
· Robust knowledge of the healthcare sector and plans for its future and a desire to support practice development to respond to that policy agenda;
· Keen interest and experience in NHS and healthcare improvement
· Have strong report writing and presenting experience;
· Experience with or interest in benefits quantification and financial analysis;
· Ability to be pragmatic and innovative in problem solving;
· Financial and operational baselining experience
· Interest in interaction and dialogue with internal and external stakeholders;
· Experience contributing to business cases that comply with NHSE or Treasury guidance for transactions or investments;
· Experience modelling the impacts of changes to models of care, capital investment, restructuring, capital planning and workforce initiatives;
· Project Management skills including planning and prioritise work within deadlines for major change programmes.
