KPMG’s International Case Competition 2018
The 2018 event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is a fantastic opportunity to accelerate your awareness of global business whilst gaining a unique cultural experience.
This could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. KPMG’s International Case Competition is a chance to experience the fast-paced world of casework, meet new people and travel to places you may never have been before. If you get to the top of your national case competition, you’ll find yourself on your way to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on an all-expenses-paid trip to our international final. There, you’ll have the chance to network with your peers from around the world as you compete for the global title.
Our International Case Competition gives you and three teammates the chance to work on tough business problems. For each business problem you are presented with, you will be given three hours to solve a challenge that mirrors the sort of work our teams do here at KPMG. It’ll be a test of your ability to work with real problems and come up with interesting solutions. It’s also a unique platform to showcase agile thinking and prove that you’re ready to embark on a successful career.

How it works
You and your team of four will need to apply to one of the following locations as per the instructions below:
If you attend a university in London, Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, East Sussex, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Norfolk, Suffolk, Surrey or West Sussex,
If you attend a university in Wales, Cornwall, Dorset, Devon, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Somerset or Wiltshire,
If you attend a university in the West Midlands, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Oxfordshire or Shropshire,
If you attend a university in Manchester, Cheshire, Durham, Humberside, Lancashire, Merseyside, Northumberland, Staffordshire or Yorkshire,
If you attend a university in Scotland,
Once you and your team mates apply, you must complete our Situational Judgement Test. Please note for your team to be eligible all team members must submit an online application and complete the test.
Once your applications are complete, you will need to email firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm the name of your team members. The student recruitment team will then be in touch with details of your audio submission.
The regional finals will take place in December. Your team will be given a case study, which you will have three hours to prepare and put together a presentation that will then be presented before a panel of judges. The winner of the final round will represent your region at the national final.
Scotland – Friday 26th January 2018
North – Monday 15th January 2018
Midlands – Monday 15th January 2018
South – Thursday 18th January 2018
London – Wednesday 7th February 2018
This will take place in our London office on 16th Februrary 2018. Much like the regional final, your team will be given a case study, which you will have three hours to prepare and put together a presentation that will then be presented before a panel of judges. The winner of the final round will represent KPMG UK in Kuala Lumpur.
This will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia between 9th- 12th April 2018.
How to apply
You don’t need to be studying a particular subject to take part, and our competition is open to undergraduates and postgraduate masters students who are studying at a UK university (Please note, traditional MBA and PhD students are unfortunately not permitted to participate).
You must also meet the following criteria:
- An interest in business
- Strong leadership and task management skills
- Composure under pressure
- The ability to absorb a range of information quickly, think through ideas and present solutions
- Your team must be composed of two males and two females
- Finally you must meet KPMG's minimum academic requirements. These can be found by clicking here.
Most of all, you must be prepared to challenge your own thinking and to encourage others to be their best. It takes flexibility and teamwork to come up with business solutions that are truly innovative and refreshing.
