Business Consulting

Within Business Consulting, you’ll benefit from the support, scope and exposure you need to develop your skills and career in any of our specialist departments: Management Consulting, Actuarial, Risk & Regulatory, Economics, People and Change or The Strategy Group.

Financial Advisory

Supported by our largest qualifications training team, you’ll gain the analytical expertise and experience needed to become an expert in one of our specialised departments: Forensic, Corporate Finance, Restructuring, Transaction Services, Accounting Advisory Services or Deal Advisory. You will also be supported in studying towards an ACA qualification.

Business Consulting

In Business Consulting, we draw on our wealth of experience to help clients increase theirs. Whether you join our graduate programme in Actuarial, Management Consulting, Economics, The Strategy Group or Risk & Regulatory, you’ll be able to draw on your training, knowledge and experience to provide well-rounded advice and detailed insights – ultimately becoming an invaluable resource to high profile clients.

Actuarial

Acting as an expert adviser to the insurance industry, our Actuarial team help organisations to manage financial risk. Here, you’ll be given the chance to use detailed analysis of past events to create accurate models of the future – and crucially, advise on their financial implications.

It’s a highly technical role, best suited to graduates who are numerate, extremely ambitious and able to communicate complex ideas to non-specialists. Our Actuarial Graduate Programme is a great opportunity to build a varied career, gain the Actuarial qualification in three to five years, benefit from a range of training options and help clients to solve complex business challenges.

Economics and Regulation

Our Economics and Regulation team uses economic arguments, supported by figures, to build compelling cases for our clients in disputes, negotiations with their regulators or discussions with their competition authorities.

Developing some of the best economic minds in the industry, we draw on first-class accountancy, business advisory and regulatory process knowledge to produce persuasive arguments supported by the strongest evidence available, without losing sight of commercial reality.

The Economics and Regulation Graduate Programme takes three years to complete and is designed to help you build up your commercial and business skills through a mixture of internal training and practical work experience.

Management Consulting

Management Consulting is a priority area for our Advisory business – and invaluable to our clients’ businesses too, as we help them to address some of their hottest topics. On this programme, you’ll be given the chance to gain exposure across a range of disciplines – offering an unrivalled insight into KPMG.

As a trainee on the Management Consulting Graduate Programme, you’ll be helping to add value to our clients and business from the start. Working with our amazing clients that include some of the most well-known and largest organisations in the world, Management Consulting is dynamic and fast-paced. Enhancing businesses across a number of sectors through a wide variety of challenges; every day is different.

People and Change

The People and Change practice transforms the performance of organisations across the world by changing the way people are led, managed and developed. We do this by focusing on two areas of the change agenda – delivering the people agenda on large scale, complex, transformational change programmes and transforming the HR function.

In People and Change we work with big blue chip clients to help them transform their business through organisational development, talent management, behavioural change management, optimising the HR function, workforce Intelligence and M&S / Sourcing.

Risk and Regulatory

Our Financial Services Risk & Regulatory teams act as advisers to global clients who want to keep on top of current issues and industry best practices in an evolving marketplace in the Financial Sector.

We work closely with international regulators and financial institutions and have built our reputation by applying our impressive technical and practical experience to our clients’ needs. We not only provide clients with value-adding thought leadership – but our graduates too.

Graduates in this area follow a three year programme based in either the Risk or Regulatory team. Following the credit crisis and resulting global economic challenges, the subjects of risk and regulation both continue to have a high profile. So understandably, these issues are not only a key focus for our clients, governments and regulators – they are considered areas of high priority, change, and growth within KPMG too.

The Strategy Group

The Strategy Group is a dynamic and fast-growing team, where you will work through complex and challenging issues facing clients today. You’ll have the opportunity to work with people at all levels including senior management, offering strategic advice on business and operating models to our corporate, public sector and private equity clients.  We offer advice in both an organic growth and transaction-related setting. It is an exciting time to join this team as we accelerate momentum and enhance our presence in our priority sectors.

Deal Advisory

Deal Advisory is a fast paced area of our advisory business. Continually enhancing value for our clients across the deal and economic cycle, our specialists guide them through the entire process – from the initial concept of buying a business to turning their business around in times of difficulty.

Our wealth of experience across the deal cycle gives us access to what’s happening in the heart of key sectors, and enables you to learn from the very best.

Combining structured training, work experience and on-the-job coaching, this three-year programme is a great foundation to your career – giving you a broad commercial awareness of the challenges a business faces across the deal and economic cycle.

Initially joining Corporate Finance, Restructuring, Transaction Services or the Mergers and Acquisitions team, during the three years you will have the opportunity to apply for a secondment into a different area of the business. A secondment can enhance your commercial understanding and help to broaden your knowledge and network.

Deal Advisory Mandarin

The Deal Advisory Mandarin Speaking Programme is part of the wider Deal Advisory Graduate Programme, and a unique opportunity to develop into a global professional. Specifically for people who are fluent in English and Mandarin, and who have an interest in experiencing both the UK and Chinese markets, it combines structured training, work experience and on-the-job coaching to equip you with the professional skills and experience you need. You’ll spend a minimum of six months on secondment in China once qualified.

Forensic

Our Forensic team helps clients to protect their business by reducing reputational risk and commercial loss.

Combining accounting investigation, technology and industry skills, we come in where facts and figures don’t agree, or where behaviour doesn’t comply with expectations or regulations. Through investigations and compliance, fraud risk management, corporate intelligence, anti-bribery, anti-money laundering, dispute advisory, contract governance and intellectual property services, we help to diffuse challenging situations.

Our Forensic Graduate Programme is designed to build your commercial and business awareness across the Forensic practice and enable you to qualify in three years. As well as the chance to study towards the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales Qualification (ACA) or the Institute of Chartered Accountants (CA) in Scotland, you’ll receive structured internal training and opportunities to help clients across a variety of sectors and services.

Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance Services (IARCS)

If you are interested in understanding how businesses operate, what risks they face and how decisions are made, then Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance Services (IARCS) is for you. Joining us means you’ll develop and refine your specialist business and accounting skills by improving our clients’ governance, risk management and controls.

Our clients will rely on us to provide valuable insight and commercial recommendations to them by conducting in-depth analysis and assessments of data and business processes. Our services incorporate Internal Audit, Contract Compliance, Risk and Governance and Sustainability.

Our IARCS Graduate Programme is designed to build your commercial and business awareness across the IARCS practice and enable you to qualify in three years. As well as the chance to study towards the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales Qualification (ACA) or the Institute of Chartered Accountants (CA) in Scotland, you’ll receive structured internal training and opportunities to help clients across a variety of sectors and services.

Transport & Public Sector Accounting Advisory

Transport and Public Sector Accounting Advisory is the market leader in financial reporting and business planning advice to two high-profile sectors of critical importance to the UK: the land transport sector; and the public sector.  

Our Transport Advisory team provides commercial and financial advice to both public and private sector clients in the land transport industry. We help clients grow; improve the financial performance of their operations, and bid for multi-billion pound government contracts – providing robust financial analysis to support them in taking key strategic decisions.

Our Public Sector Accounting team delivers a range of accounting, financial reporting and financial management services across the public sector, with a particular specialism in defence. Using our wealth of experience we work together with our clients to understand their financial challenges, provide advice and implement recommendations.

Joining Transport and Public Sector Accounting Advisory offers you the chance to experience a range of different projects across our two service lines. As a graduate you are also likely to be given the opportunity to travel around the UK as part of the role; sometimes for extended periods of time and sometimes this travel can be global.
