Financial Advisory

Supported by our largest qualifications training team, you’ll gain the analytical expertise and experience needed to become an expert in one of our specialised departments: Forensic, Corporate Finance, Restructuring, Transaction Services, Accounting Advisory Services or Deal Advisory. You will also be supported in studying towards an ACA qualification.

Business Consulting

In Business Consulting, we draw on our wealth of experience to help clients increase theirs. Actuarial

Acting as an expert adviser to the insurance industry, our Actuarial team help organisations to manage financial risk. Here, you’ll be given the chance to use detailed analysis of past events to create accurate models of the future – and crucially, advise on their financial implications.

It’s a highly technical role, best suited to graduates who are numerate, extremely ambitious and able to communicate complex ideas to non-specialists. Our Actuarial Graduate Programme is a great opportunity to build a varied career, gain the Actuarial qualification in three to five years, benefit from a range of training options and help clients to solve complex business challenges.

Training and development

From day one you’ll be on a structured path towards gaining a professional qualification, studying towards the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries' exams on subjects including:

  • Financial mathematics and modelling
  • Probability and statistics
  • Financial reporting and economics
  • Actuarial risk management
  • Life and general insurance

Exams are held twice a year, and you can sit as many papers as you like in one sitting.  At KPMG we encourage and reward quick qualification and expect our students to qualify in three to five years. Studying is primarily undertaken by a correspondence course; you will also receive internal support from KPMG and attend external tutorials. You will need a high level of commitment.

Economics and Regulation

If you join Banking Risk & Regulatory, you’ll study for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Accounting Advisory Services

Accounting Advisory Services (AAS) is divided into two main service lines: Technical Accounting and Transport Advisory.

Our Technical Accounting service line provides a broad range of accounting and structuring advice to its clients relating to major business transactions or transformations. Our Transport Advisory service line supports private and public sector clients by helping them to assess and pursue opportunities within the transport industry.

Working closely with our clients to understand and define their commercial and business needs, we combine our expert accounting skills with strong project management and consultancy knowledge to develop and implement the recommended solution.

Our Graduate Programme is designed to help you gain and refine business and accounting skills, as well as provide opportunities to advise our clients on various aspects of their financial functions.

Within AAS, on the technical accounting side you can expect to work closely with our private and public sector clients as you assist them in areas ranging from the implementation of new accounting requirements to group restructuring and mergers and acquisitions. On the transport advisory side, you can expect to be a part of a market-focused team which specialises in the rail industry and supporting companies bidding for major rail and bus franchises and concessions- with contract revenues of up to £1.5bn per year - both in the UK and abroad.

Combining structured training, work experience and on-the-job coaching, this three-year programme is a great foundation to your career – giving you a broad commercial awareness of the challenges a business faces across the deal and economic cycle.

Initially joining Corporate Finance, Restructuring or Transaction Services, during the three years you will have the opportunity to apply for a secondment into a different area of the business. A secondment can enhance your commercial understanding and help to broaden your knowledge and network.

Deal Advisory Mandarin

The Deal Advisory Mandarin Speaking Programme is part of the wider Deal Advisory Graduate Programme, and a unique opportunity to develop into a global professional. Specifically for people who are fluent in English and Mandarin, and who have an interest in experiencing both the UK and Chinese markets, it combines structured training, work experience and on-the-job coaching to equip you with the professional skills and experience you need. You’ll spend a minimum of six months on secondment in China once qualified.

Training and development

The training and development of every individual in our community of professionals is critical to the success of our business. Which is why we’ll train you to become an expert in your field, and support you to study for professional qualification - the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales Qualification (ACA).

Our well estabilished ACA Empowered Training programme spreads the ACA examinations over the lifetime of the three year training contract so that you are able to build up your technical knowledge over time and can apply what you are learning in training to your work place experience gradually.

Once you are qualified we’ll offer a secondment in China for at least six months. After this you’ll further develop and specialise in your chosen field and we’ll provide more training to support your ongoing development as required.

Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance Services (IARCS)

If you are interested in understanding how businesses operate, what risks they face and how decisions are made, then Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance Services (IARCS) is for you. Joining us means you’ll develop and refine your specialist business and accounting skills by improving our clients’ governance, risk management and controls.

Our clients will rely on us to provide valuable insight and commercial recommendations to them by conducting in-depth analysis and assessments of data and business processes. Our services incorporate Internal Audit, Contract Compliance, Risk and Governance and Sustainability.

Our IARCS Graduate Programme is designed to build your commercial and business awareness across the IARCS practice and enable you to qualify in three years. As well as the chance to study towards the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales Qualification (ACA) or the Institute of Chartered Accountants (CA) in Scotland, you’ll receive structured internal training and opportunities to help clients across a variety of sectors and services.
